As we emerged from the first covid lockdown, a group of Fairtrade campaigners from around London came up with the idea of putting together a Fairtrade Walk around London, as a way of meeting up outdoors and exploring the city from a new perspective. We all researched different Fairtrade commodities and different areas of London, tried out some routes, and came up with a 2-3 hour walk. Camden Council celebrates 25 years of Fairtrade

Camden Council’s councillors unanimously passed a motion, proposed by Cllr Jenny Mulholland, seconded by Cllr Larraine Revah, celebrating 25 years of Fairtrade and Camden’s continued commitment to Fairtrade, working with local groups, schools, universities, and businesses. Nestlé has announced that from October 2020, Kit Kats will no longer contain Fairtrade cocoa and sugar. Instead, Nestlé is moving to the promotion of its own Cocoa Plan and the Rainforest Alliance certification. As a result 27,000 sugar and cocoa farmers will lose the Fairtrade Premium, to be replaced by funds promised over the next two years and an alternative premium without the same guarantees as Fairtrade.
