Tablecloth to Skirt

Hello Refashion Co-op. I wanted to make a circle skirt from this round tablecloth. It was so easy and fast.  Before and after. I cut a circle in the center of the tablecloth. I tried to make this hole in the exact center so that the skirt would be even all around. I made an elastic waistband and attached it to the skirt.  This only took about half an hour to finish. Go get a tablecloth! You're going to love this. For more pictures and details go to I Can Work With That ..read more

Low-rise Pants to Cargo Skirt
Refashion Co-op

Hello Refashion Co-op. I saw a cargo skirt at a shop and was inspired to make one. I started with a pair of linen pants.  Before and after. The first thing I did was repair the front where the seam had come apart.  I cut the jeans open in the center seam. I pinned them together to make skirt shape. I sewed all the way up the back to remove that curved center seam.  I made the waist smaller by cutting the side seam open and pulling the back section over the front.    I used a zigzag stitch to cover that cut edge. This skirt was getting a very utilitaria ..read more

Mumsy cardigan upcycle with jeans

Hi everyone, hope you're into another refashion with jeans... because I can never get enough of jeans. And since I know jeans are one of the most polluting fabrics, I feel morally obliged to make good use of it. So here it goes... Not long after I'd purchased this cardigan (fell in love with the color, but that wasn't enough...) I knew it wasn't the garment I would enjoy for years to come. It didn't suit me after all, it made me look a bit older, and that's never a good sign. I felt it deserved a rejuvenation, which I hope succeeded by shorten the length and adding details in jeans.&n ..read more

Making 2 Tone Jeans
Refashion Co-op

Hello Refashion Co-op. I have been wanting some jeans with 2 colors or 2 tones. I had a lot of fun when I put them together this week.  Black and blue. These jeans were similar in size and fit. That helped me put them together easily.  I cut the jeans apart so that each leg was separate and the fronts and backs were separate.  I put them back together and swapped some of the parts so that each pair was blue and black. I even swapped the back pockets and some of the belt loops. This was a fun project. For more pictures and how-to details go to I Can Work With Tha ..read more

An Asymetrical Wrap Skirt
Refashion Co-op

Hello Refashion Co-op. I wanted to try and make a wrap skirt for myself that had some draping on one side. I have seen them and liked the look. So I made one up.  I had this wool in my sewing stash so it was time to use some of it. Wrap skirts are basically a really wide rectangle. This skirt is a little wider to have that drape on the end of the front panel. I made 2 tucks in the back and one on each side to get the waist to fit well.  I used the selvedge side of the fabric as my waistband. This was a big time saver.  I did not hem it, I pulled the threads loose ..read more

Replacing a Purse Handle
Refashion Co-op
by I Can Work With That

Hello Refashion Co-op. I found a bag at a thrift store that I liked but the handles were in rough shape.  No sewing required! These handles were falling apart. I cut them and slide them out of the casing. The original casing and handles were round so I used round bamboo handles. I cut the bamboo handle open. I just cut through it. It was easy to cut, I did not need this big saw but it is all I had. A small serrated cutting tool would be enough to cut the bamboo.  The bamboo handles oped up like this after I cut them. I used the opening to slide the new handles into and t ..read more
