Everybody’s Talking About Jamie came to Bristol Hippodrome this week and we were invited along to review it and what a fun night we had! Check out our thoughts below. “Everybody’s Talking About Jamie” is a fabulous and witty musical that I would urge all to go and view.  Jamie’s character is based upon the true story of Jamie Campbell, a 16 year old school boy from Sheffield who dreams of becoming a Drag Queen.  Jamie dreams of going to prom in a dress however others ignorance plays on his mind and he begins to doubt his dreams. Throughout the musical you meet supportive and unsuppo ..read more

Some of you may know we are a pretty non tech family, the teenagers have smart phones and laptops.  Plus we have a family laptop, which I mainly use for work. Often school recommends apps and games to help the kids learn, but I like the kids to learn offline whilst having fun. I am often looking for games and activities to help add to the kids education. We are always looking and dreaming of new adventures too. So when Tactic Games offered for us to review some travel based games we were happy to oblige.  New for 2019 – Wonders of The World Our dream would be to travel the world, so love res ..read more

Now we are into the second week of December, I am just about ready to mention Christmas. The kids are super excited so it was lovely to get the opportunity to kick off the Festive Season with a visit to Westonbirt Enchanted Christmas event. Westonbirt Arboretum is open all year around, with seasonal trails throughout the year. This Christmas the popular Enchanted Christmas illuminated Trail is back. We had very high hopes for our visit as the Westonbirt event was voted Britain’s Favourite Christmas Light Display. Even though it was a pretty rainy evening when we visited, the trail did not di ..read more

So life isn’t about looking back but forward? However I think it is good to reflect and look back on the last year. I have to say that is has been a pretty tough year work wise, I feel that my juggling hasn’t been that good and I have dropped far too many balls. SoI  need to recify this in 2020. But for now it is time to review our year and look at the highlights of 2019. Birthday Season My eldest passed her driving test and turned 18 in the spring. All the other kids celebrated their birthdays in the spring too. starting off with Faryl and we took a roadtrip to Leicester to the Space Centre ..read more

Earlier this week, we were lucky enough to get a sneak peek of a Brand New Trampoline Park and Soft Play at Carterton Leisure Centre. The kids especially Faryl love to bounce so often ask to go to trampoline parks in the winter when he can’t get out on the trampoline in the garden.  The Trampoline Park and Soft Play are part of an ongoing £8.4 million pound redevelopment of Carterton Leisure Centre.  Trampoline Park Safety first when we arrived we completed a disclaimer and watched a safety video in the briefing room. The video was not too long and to the point, once the kids had watched it ..read more

The Botantist Review

The Botantist Review As a family it is important to spend quality time together and we often do this when we go out to eat. We tend to have ‘safe places’ to go (where I know the kids will like the food). However now they are getting older it is nice to try new places, so it was exciting to try out The Botantist last week. I had seen great pictures from friends’ visits, mostly of smoking cocktails. I always thought it was a grown-up place to go but taking a closer look at the menu discovered that they have a kids menu with a wide variety of options. Being a larger than average family, I alway ..read more

Pantomine is always a highlight of our family calendar. Faryl and I were lucky enough to attend the press night of Bristol Hippodrome’s Dick Whittington. This year the cast is headed by Shane Ritchie as Dick Whittington and Jennie Dale as Queen Rat.  The set this year was pretty impressive, colourful and captivating. Early on in the show, the audience were impressed by the gigantic moving Rat, which reached out over the first few rows of the audience. Then later in the production Faryl and many of the other children in the crowd were amazed by the flying red London bus. It weaved it’s way aro ..read more

I have very fond memories of Sunday’s at the Seaside. When I was growing up our family would pack up a picnic and head to Southsea for a day of fun. Whether it was a walk along the prom, a paddle in the sea or a visit to the arcade it was always a memorable day. So a few weeks ago the kids and I replayed history and headed to Southsea for a day out. We were invited to review Kidz Island on South Parade Pier. Kidz Island is just as the name suggests and it totally aimed at kids. It is situated at the end of the South Parade Pier over looking The Solent. You can even spot the Isle of Wight on ..read more
