PSA Sines has awarded a construction contract for the first phase of the Sines Container Terminal (Terminal XXI) expansion project to the bid comprising Mota-Engil, Engenharia E Construcao, SA/Etermar – Engeneharia E Constructao. The projects includes the construction of another 204 meters of quay in order to provide the terminal with a 1,150m long quay by the end of 2021, representing a private investment of 16.5 million euros. Virgin Atlantic Cargo is adding a new service from London Heathrow to San Juan, commencing on the 24th November. It is the first time that the airline has operated cargo flying to Puerto Rico and it will be serving the destination twice weekly on a Boeing 787-9 aircraft. DB Cargo secures 10-year contract with ArcelorMittal

DB Cargo has secured a 10-year contract to supply ArcelorMittal’s steel plant in Eisenhüttenstadt with raw materials from mid-2021 to 2031. Under the contract DB Cargo will purchase 352 multi-functional double wagons and 1,408 special containers to transport ore, coke and limestone. Its partner, the logistics provider Innofreight, designed the wagons and optimised their load volume specifically for these raw materials. CFL cargo signs up for 10 Traxx locomotives

Luxembourg based CFL cargo has signed a contract purchase 10 Traxx MS multi-system electric locomotives from Bombardier Transportation. The new locomotives will enable CFL cargo to provide seamless cross-border transport from Central Europe to France. Port of Oakland imports jump 10%

The Port of Oakland reported October imports up by 10.4 percent compared to October 2019. The Port also said containerised export volume was down 0.5 percent when compared to October 2019. Total TEUs for October were 216,686, up 5.8 percent compared to October 2019 when TEUs were 204,880. The Port attributed the jump in imports to the pandemic changing consumer spending habits. Kalmar, part of Cargotec has signed a six-year Kalmar Care service agreement with long-term customer Belfast Container Terminal Ltd in Northern Ireland covering the supply of maintenance support personnel for Belfast Victoria Terminal 3 (VT3). Israel-based Zim Integrated Shipping Services (ZIM) reported strong results for the third quarter of 2020 with net profit at US$144.4 million, compared to US$5 million for the same period 2019, an increase of 2,818.4 percent.
