Little details as inspiration

Often it’s the little details and everyday things that inspire me the most. The cement walls in our basement have metal rust markings. I am fascinated by the flow of nature that we are surrounded by and historic artifacts. These elements have been the core of my inspiration and have influenced the aesthetic in every art piece. Nature Reserve 01 This piece is inspired by the nature reserve that is constructed around our home. There are unusual organic shapes that form from different perspectives. With elements of natural materials and techniques, the composition is a play on layered textures th ..read more

Experimenting with the evolution of pottery.

This pottery collection is developed from gathering inspiration from artifacts and simplifying the process by stripping down to the basic essentials. The colour choices are influenced by the raw materials, organic forms, and friendly curvy lines. Playing on a clear chromatic palette that rather highlights the forms and singularities of each piece allowing it to evolve naturally. The slow process is motivated by simply making prototypes that are influenced by intuitive and playful motions, as opposed to rigid and straight lines. The basic forms are molded from homemade substances which are then ..read more

A Collection of Sculptures & Art

There is a certain softness and calmness to a soft minimalist space, with its slowing pace and creamy colour palette, combining modern and raw together is the perfect recipe for a contemporary aesthetic. Styling oversized sculptures and abstract art in a space adds to the overall mood. With the combination of raw clay and architectural structural abstraction the neutral tones of sand, milk whites and dark drowns create a soft and contrasting atmosphere. By using a minimal colour palette, it’s an easy way to achieve a layered look. Neutral shades keep the look soft, while it draws attention to ..read more

A Simple Office Nook

Soft Minimalism Situated at the top part of our loft, this contemporary office nook outlooks the nature reserve, which is relaxing, allows focus and relaxation in a quiet space. I wanted to create a simple space that was light, proportional and comfortable. Our double volume ceiling and high windows flood in with natural light and warmth. I consider this style is about contrasting textures from natural materials to a neutral colour palette and by adding black to ground the space and extend its architectural details. Every room needs a little black as it’s contrasting and timeless. Office Nook ..read more

Behind the Art: A Contemporary Collection

It’s often the little details in everyday life that inspire me. Like the juxtapositions in nature, the oxidized walls of a historical building and old artifacts that have weathered through time. My philosophy is to showcase the beauty of imperfection, I look at imperfect shapes and compositions and gather my thought process from there. While there is inspiration all around us, nature is my primary muse and the basis of my creativeness that influences the form, texture and context of the final art piece. The Story My concepts start with observing my surroundings, sketching the forms and reemerg ..read more

Black, White and Muted Neutrals

Soft Minimalism Feeling calm, cozy and clean in a fresh muted room. A restrained neutral colour palette soothes and acts as a blank canvas for other elements in the space to stand out, like an exquisite lamp or the details on a headboard. Creating a setting that is inviting, warm and simple. We kept our loft walls neutral as we have double volume ceilings and a pitched roof, with a modern industrial spiral staircase that is not only a statement piece, but acts as a room divider between the living area and kitchen. Each morning we get a glimmer of natural light seeping into our living space. Il ..read more

Original, Simple, Subtle: Soft Minimalism

I’m slowly shifting from monochrome interiors to more of a soft, subtle colour palette that we are seeing emerge into Soft Minimalism. It’s easy on the eye with the light colour palette of earthy tones, simple shapes and natural materials that are soft and nominal. These warm tones aim to dispel the myth that minimalism is stark, un-livable and cold. A minimalist setting can in fact become simple, warm and inviting. Pair with delicate textures and soft tones capturing a clean and simple space that characterizes a focused and refreshing room. We see this movement spread broadly into Interiors ..read more

As a designer and homeowner who has recently renovated our contemporary bathroom in a timeless monochromatic palette, it is time to change up our bathroom ranges as these sunny teaser days are getting us ready for the warm weather. With the virus keeping us indoors recently, we may not enjoy the outdoors quite like we used to. With the change of the season, it’s time to change the atmospheric scent in our home. Bathrooms are underrated, and they are one of the first spaces we enter when we wake up and one of the last spaces we use before we rest. This season I’ve selected warm spicy notes of a ..read more

Simple, natural design was the inspiration for our loft. The warm colour palette, the vaulted ceiling adds an organic and raw aesthetic that complements our lifestyle and functionality of the space. When it comes to the home, I look at adopting a holistic approach to all aspects from the kitchen to the bedroom. Opting for natural materials that are breathable, timeless and long lasting. You can refine your bedroom by establishing a simplified colour palette for the space, by using neutral colour tones with other accents. The muted bedding in a linen blend, assists in smoothing out the darker l ..read more
