Surviving the 4th trimester
Oh Kells No

When watching videos online of other parents talk about the 4th trimester they always made it sound like it was worse than pregnancy and giving birth combined. I knew there would be a ton of healing involved and I would be on a much slower pace (though I was already “doing less” in the last few weeks of my pregnancy as it was hard to even walk from room to room). I wanted to make sure, for me, the 4th trimester wasn’t a nightmare or something to be feared. Yes, I expected some physical pain and other limitations but I wanted to put together some items beforehand to make the 4th trimester a lot ..read more

Cinnamon swirl smoothie

Even on the coldest winter day I will have a smoothie for breakfast. It’s become habit at this point and usually my smoothies are all the same (with the only regular change being what frozen fruit I use), but the odd time I want something completely different than my “usual.” This smoothie is so delicious and creamy. I hope you enjoy it! Ingredients: 1/4 cup quick oats 1 serving of vanilla protein powder 1 medjool date, pitted 1 frozen banana cinnamon, measure with your heart! (but about 1 tsp or so) a handful of frozen cauliflower 1 tbsp chia seeds 1 cup non-dairy milk + extra depending on h ..read more

Review: babylist.ca for your baby registry in Canada

Ah yes, the baby registry. I found this to be one of the most overwhelming things on the pregnancy “to-do” list. There are way too many products out there and everyone (and I mean everyone) has an opinion about the those products – someone’s “must-have” is another’s “waste of money.” When I was researching what babies actually need – spoiler alert, it’s not actually that much – I was also wondering where to register. I didn’t want to have three different registries at three different stores and I definitely didn’t want to be stuck at just one place. Luckily, one of my favourite influencers was ..read more

My goals for 2022

It’s that time of year when we set down our intentions for the new year. I don’t know if anyone made resolutions for 2021 considering how 2020 went but I wanted to set some goals for myself for 2022 and try to put this whole pandemic craziness behind me! 2020 and 2021 were such bizarre years. I don’t think anyone could have predicted what the past two years would’ve looked like. I’m hoping 2022 returns to some type of normalcy (we just bought concert tickets for summer 2022 so it seems that things might be on the right track). Working from home since March 2020 really changed my daily habits ..read more

How to get (and keep) healthy, glowing skin year round
Oh Kells No

My deep obsession with skincare has continued well into 2021 and doesn’t show any signs of slowing down. I’m constantly on the lookout for new and interesting products to try, different actives to introduce into my routine and really making sure I am taking care of my skin the best way I know how. One thing about my mom that I always admired was people were so astonished by her actual age – she never looked it. I remember watching her morning and night skincare routines as a kid but it wasn’t until I was well into my late 20s that I really took skincare seriously. Up here in Canada, the differ ..read more

I make these about once a month! They are so simple and delish and my go-to for a protein boost to my lunches. You can skip the browning on the stove top and opt to just put them right into the oven if you wish. Easy & Delicious Turkey Meatballs Ingredients: 1 lbs ground turkey 1 egg 1/2 tsp garlic powder 1/2 tsp onion powder 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper (I use just under 1/4 tsp) 1/2 tsp dried mixed herbs (my favourite is herbs de Provence, but you can use Italian if you like) 2 tsp tamari sauce 1 tbsp ground flax seeds pinch of paprika salt and pepper Instructions: Preheat oven to 400 F Mix ..read more

Second Trimester recap & essentials
Oh Kells No

I’m writing this post during my 28th week of pregnancy, putting me officially into the third trimester. It’s crazy how fast time is going by. It really does feel like just a couple weeks ago I was in my first trimester (you can read that recap here). The second trimester does make things seem more real, as the bump grows and you start to feel little flutters that eventually turn into little kicks and squirms. For me, the second trimester also came with daily anxiety (something I’ve never really experienced before), and it has continued into my third trimester. They call the second trimester th ..read more

10 things i am thankful for

Happy Thanksgiving! I always love this time of year because it really does mean cooler temps are on the way. The leaves have begun to change and the fall colours are everywhere. If you’re in Canada, like me, you’ve likely celebrated Thanksgiving this weekend and are all turkey’d out. I’m typically not one to get sentimental, but this year with so many things changing, I thought I’d list what I’m most thankful for. 10 Things I am Thankful For (in no particular order): My Family – my mom passed away last year from cancer. I wasn’t exactly sure how that would change our family dynamic; she was ..read more

Pregnancy skincare & products to avoid

**DISCLAIMER: I am by no means an expert in skincare or pregnancy-related matters. As always, if you have questions or concerns about a skincare product speak with your doctor or medical provider. There’s already so many things we can’t do when we’re pregnant and a lot of others we need to be careful about. I honestly didn’t think too much about my skincare products and how they might affect a growing/developing baby but there are some products and ingredients we need to be mindful about. We all know that our skin is our largest organ and what we put on our skin we absorb, so it should really ..read more

My top picks from the Nordstrom Anniversary sale

When it comes to the yearly NSale, I am VERY late to the game! This was my first year shopping the NSale and I had a specific goal in mind – I’m putting together a 4th trimester/postpartum kit to help myself feel more like “me” after baby comes and I was hoping to pick up a couple outfits from the sale. Most of the fashion/lifestyle bloggers I follow happen to be from the US and seeing all of their top picks for the sale was getting me SO excited. I knew exactly what I was looking for when the sale preview finally opened in Canada. I was ready to add all the items to my wish list. What’s the N ..read more
