“I got cucumber and garlic for you!” “I got cucumber and garlic for you!” on top of her voice, the lady hawker shouts on a rainy morning, I looked out, still on my bed under the blanket. She sees me through the window and says “I got cucumber and garlic!” Nodding my head, I express my disinterest. She cries again ” I got cumber, garlic, and mustard leaves too!” I stared at her. She looked at me. Raising my hand, I signal for her to wait. She obliges and the shouting stops. On my feet hurriedly, I venture out to only to find her at the door, I say, “How much the cucumbers?” She stares at my eye ..read more

The Moon lit aloft in the darker sky, clouds everywhere, Hordes of locals the street, sounds of playful voices vocal, The path shone bright and beautiful; like a bride, I walked the lane twiddling my head, right to left observing the souls, Until, my eyes gazed at familiar something, dangling atop on the wire, A mixture of colours, a scenic mountain picturesque engraved on it, That familiar ‘something’ obeyed the slightest of wind swish, It moved into all directions unmeasured in a compass, I pause for few seconds to enjoy the moment, to understand a lesson, and I see a Kite! I observed, it kn ..read more

Heavy downpour outside, the dinner lights on, Two friends and two souls, fully engrossed in groupies, The sounds; Sound of the rain drops on the roof clinging, the sound of rain drops leaking and dropping on the floor, the sound of the clicking of the shutter button, the sound of the unspoken voice. At the slight corner, an image sat, Witnessing all these moments with smile on the face, whilst sipping the banana shake. A little kid of 8 or 9, tapping his feet to the tunes of his own songs, with the curly hair swirling, The mother rejoice, the onlookers smile, the two souls stopped the groupies ..read more

The alley abuzz with people, young and old, The kids chatter in unison with the birds; the crow caws, the myna sings rapturously. Old folks reminisce their youth times, The younger ones rejoice on their own, Merrily humming soothing rhymes, Days passing by, the battle is still to be won,   Fully unaware of the crowd were there, a Mother and her cute little daughter, Engrossed in their own selves and a bike to ride, The little one’s blue eyes stare into her Mother’s for assurance and laughter, A beautiful smile relieves the little one of her fears, And as she rejoices at her first bike rid ..read more

” I hear the music the way it sounds but I  can feel the divinity in those tunes, I haven’t and can’t instruments I play; I touch them to feel their power to possess souls, I play the way it is played. I know not from where I learnt to hold it correctly, And, how to strike the right chords. I play it everyday. I play it for you. I play for the chained souls, From the breaking of the dawn to the dusk, I play it for you. I continue playing and singing too; with the bestest of vocals I could ever till I hear a tingling sound, That sound which is much familiar to me by now; the sound of coins drop ..read more

The Souls and the Night Sky

The souls met after many yearning nights to fulfill desires so great, Desires to physically be one and emotionally attached, The happiness unbound and uncaged when their eyes met, With a passionate urge to hold each other in arms, they latched, Kisses they exchanged, cuddling they did, Unaware about the world and the onlookers from the far, They continued kissing with no one to forbid, They laid on the ground with summer stars high and bright, holding tight each other at par. The breathing grew louder and the hearts pumped, Grabbing tight they hold each other, longing for the night to stay, Th ..read more

The path was dark but I throd my way, My heart pumped, my legs trembled, and my body shaken, Nightmare stories I heard my friends and family say, How the dignity and respect of ours were taken. I continued my brisk walk with my face pale and the night grey, Some shadows I saw at a distant, my heartbeat throttled quick, And I tried to walk the best I could, But the clumping footsteps were making me sick. I prayed to be safe, my tears rolled down the cheek,  But I got lost in the dark woods not where I should,  Trying my best to find the path I seek, Ran through the tall trees, green grasses, a ..read more

All I see is a mist of darkness, With nowhere to thread my feet in, In World where there is absence of kindness, I see a light of hope so thin. I can’t go on; my body and my soul are giving in, There’s no fire in belly to seek reasons for my quest, With efforts and motivation of my kith and kin, Now, I go along the path where the birds fly in the air so clean. Then, I arrive at the gates of my fear ; the scar of defeat is still fresh, My feet start to disobey my heart; I felt all alone a soul, And I saw you in the ray of light; my strive afresh, A voice so familiar like you call. When the dawn breaks, we yearn for the day to be a bliss, Walking hand in hand, we feel merry and care-free,  Holding your head with my hand, I forward myself to kiss, Like the birds in the sky and the busy bee. Then, I see the world through your eyes, for they don’t  lie, I can see a beautiful vista of moments, and it’s so joyful that you are with me. We walk down the lane, looking into each other’s eyes passing the green, Then, the cute laughter of the little girl made us smile, Playing with friends and family, she is just thirteen, With bounds of joy and agile, Finally, we stayed back star ..read more

” The Call of the Silence”

With the cracking of dawn comes the hope, To persevere, wish, and dream high. The first light of silence calling you to fly and the chirping of the birds luring you not to stay back. Pack your soul and not the things, For, you won’t need those in this carnival. Unpack your jealousy, your envy, your hatred, and your past, Fly high, drop down, again spread your wings for another leap of faith, Go places, meet souls; they will preach you about life and that’s the one you need. C’mon now! Time is ticking, life’s calling and you want to be there with them, Don’t you? Let’s fly now; Up, Up and Away ..read more
