Happy New Decade my friends! I often think of questions that prompt my writing. I want to share some with you! God has been coming in my life in so many ways within the past year and into the New Year, a huge one is discovering me. Here are 31 journal prompts for this month, (I know its January 18th right?) thanks for being patient with me. A huge mountain that trying to climb is how to organize my time while doing a million things and having a billion thoughts. (My mind seriously never stops.) I hope this helps with discovery within yourself! Happy journaling! My goals for this year are… Dear ..read more

What Tomi Lahrens' book taught me

If you follow me on social media than you may have noticed I've been reading NEVER PLAY DEAD by Tomi Lahren. This book was so vulnerable, I loved and appreciated it greatly. When someone is in a position like Tomi, they don't have the chance to get their side of things out before people start tearing them to shreds. This book provides more than clarification, it provides inspiration. This book has nothing to do with politics, and everything to do with standing up for yourself. Most Americans have issues with standing up for themselves because it may seem selfish, it isn’t “politically correct ..read more

At the end of the year, there is a lot of hype of starting over and pressing reset. This is a great platform and a motivating event that can create courage for many. But what happens when you don't do your goals Jan 1st. You didn't go to the gym You didn't eat clean You didn't put your phone down You said yes, when you wanted to say no Are you a failure? Absolutely not. I remember while studying in my undergrad, I had a behavioral modification project for my psychology of learning class. We all had to present a powerpoint at the end of the semester. Almost everyone said that they failed. I cle ..read more

Intentions and purpose of 2020
My Abundant Life

The best way to start off the new year is by reflecting on the previous year. This year I have many things to be proud of. In 2019, I graduated with my B.S. in Psychology, I started a master’s program for Clinical Mental Health Counseling and started my Blog. Sure, I gained 10lbs but, in the grand scheme of things, I had a pretty badass year. Every year, people make new year's resolutions. But do we make those resolutions with true intentions? I know in my past; I have NEVER made New Year's resolutions with intention or purpose. I simply would say something just because everyone else was. Sure ..read more

If you’ve never had suicidal thoughts, it can be challenging to comprehend what it feels like. If you have thought about suicide in your life, it can feel extremely isolating and may feel impossible to talk about with someone else. This is a tough subject for me for several reasons, but I want to share a few thoughts. 1. Delay When suicidal thoughts are strong, it may feel like you don’t have any other choice. It is critical to remember that these thoughts will pass. Delay your choice to end your life. Diversions are key: Start a tv series that is so good, you cannot stop Go outside, feel aliv ..read more

How are you? - Mental illness; an uncomfortable subject
My Abundant Life

The hardest decision when making my blog public was knowing I’d be vulnerable. I’ve learned to manage my mental illness very well, but I do not overestimate myself; knowing it can come back at anytime. Vulnerability is the state of being exposed to the possibility of being attacked or harmed, either physically or emotionally. For the most part, I have always been an open book as long as I felt comfortable enough talking to you. Knowing that people may judge, or think less of me for my words makes my heart skip a beat. Social media makes it to where everyone's life looks so perfect. We never po ..read more

Finding Faith in Darkness
My Abundant Life

Faith is defined by having complete trust or confidence in someone or something. The two most common types of faith are in yourself and in God. Faith and I have a rough history. As a child, I did not grow up in church. My knowledge of religion, was learned at NA & AA meetings while reading the sobriety steps written on the wall and saying the closing prayer with my Father. It was never explained to me in basic terms, so when a childhood friend challenged my faith in God in Middle School, I couldn't properly defend my argument. Imagine two pre-teen girls, arguing about evolution, dinosaurs ..read more

Living with an Internal Monster

My degree is in psychology. My fellow psych majors would often say; “You chose psychology to try to understand yourself, or someone you love. “ Well that is true in my case. Depression is a monster. I’ve been going to therapy since I was 5 years old. I kept journals at age 7. In 2014, my grandma mailed me some, I read them not having a recollection of what I had written. All I can say is, if a 7 year old could cry out for help, it was right there. You know how you keep a journal and pray no one ever reads it, especially your caregivers. Well I wish someone read mine. I open to a random page, i ..read more
