Religious Zealotry or Nationalistic Fervor

Why do we keep having wars? Our young people don’t want them anymore. Can’t you see they’re peacefully marching in the streets? The more guns you buy, the more innocents die. The more rockets you fire, the more destruction and dire. Who gave the zealots the right to decide if our young people are dispensable? So why do we keep indulging them, and why are Judeo-Christians so apathetic, if the devil takes no prisoners? “Never Again” is happening again— the disbelief and horror of it all, is that we never thought, it would ever come from them. Global Warming Fact or Fiction

I’ve traveled across many galaxies. I’ve seen stars glow bright And others go dim. It’s also been my experience, That a sun burns hotter, Before it burns out. I’ve even seen frozen planets Swallowed whole, By the very same darkened hole. By: ElRoyPoet © 2020 Can YOU Fix Climate Change? Op-Ed: As a concerned citizen, I have been following the global warming debate for quite some time now, and I have come to a startling realization. The corporations and their government sympathizers who are vehemently denying the existence of global warming are actually using it as a smoke screen to divert atte ..read more

Love is but a song we sing— Fear’s the way we die. You can make the mountains ring Or make the angels cry. Though the bird is on the wing And you may not know why. Some may come and some may go— We will surely pass. When the One Who left us here, Returns for us at last. We are but a moment’s sunlight— Fading in the grass. If you hear the song I sing— You will understand, listen. You hold the key to love and fear— All in your trembling hand. Just one key unlocks them both— It’s there at your command. Come on, people now; Smile on your brother; Everybody get together; Try to love one another rig ..read more

I’m just a poet trying to write a song. To convince my brother to put down that bomb. I don’t have the ability to look into the future. I just know that if he gets triggered, I won’t be able to stop them. Because my left eye is twitching, and the middle east is beating too fast. And if I can’t resist it, my heart will explode. The Cold War A part of me died— When my son’s time expired. And now that barren ground is sprouting: weeds of cynicism. Where there was once hope, peace flowers and laughter, Now there’s fear and contempt! I grieved when democracy died. They carried my freeman— away in a ..read more

Close Enough To Perfect Am I close enough to perfect for you? Even though, nobody appears to be compatible with me. You see, love is not about, whether someone is compatible with you. All that is required, is a willing partner of the opposite sex. Love is about commitment, because it’s really all up to us, if we want to be compatible with each other. Compromise The more time you spend with your opposite, the more you will discover, that you have more things in common. And if you spend even more time with her, you will find out, that you have less things in contrast. Love Makes Us Better People ..read more

You’ve been in this predicament before, But you’re almost past your prime, so you need to score. So before you end up dancing alone on the floor, You’re still hoping someone might ask for one more. But what you should really be asking for, Is a traditional man who won’t think you’re such the bore. Because it seems every time you find someone to adore, These republican men only give you headaches galore. And the reason the last democrat walked out the door, Is because you gave him heartburn all the way to the core. A man’s heart is the leader in love, But if that’s what you want, you’ll have to ..read more

Free Range Love

Love is a broad, broad word. I was caught up in the moment! I didn’t really mean to hurt anyone? And besides, now you know, That it wasn’t going to work out. This follows me around, And there’s nothing, I can do about it. All I can speak on, is my truth. Spanish Translation El amor es una palabra amplia, muy amplia. ¡Estaba atrapado en el momento! ¿Realmente no quise lastimar a nadie? Y además, ahora ya sabes, Que no iba a funcionar. ¡Esto me sigue, siempre! Y no hay nada que puedo hacer al respecto. Lo único que puedo decir, es que esta es mi realidad. Do You Want To Be My Valentine?

Love can be two-faced— Bringing joy and then pain, A dangerous ride for your emotions— Leaving you in bliss or in shame. False love will make rivers flow, Leaving you to drown in sorrow— Feeling tormented— Like you’ve never been before. But because my desire is bold, It is prideful and overbearing, It consumes me with its intensity, That I cannot turn away. For love can heal and mend, And make you whole again, Make you happy; make you smile— As wide as the universe. But is that enough, For you—to want—to hold on, Or is the pain I’m sharing, Too much for you to bare? By: ElRoyPoet © 2024 LOVE ..read more

I Needed This, But I Didn’t Want it [POEM BY AI]

But looking back, now I see the truth, That sometimes pain is the only proof, I needed a sign, for me to break free, From the chains that bound you and me. Too many years of pushing ourselves apart, Slowly and subtly, it was wounding my heart, Mutually assured destruction—a toxic game, Arguments and manipulation, living in shame. Incompatibilities, differences in priorities, Forgetting who we were, losing our identities, I see now, the puzzle pieces didn’t actually fit, Hollowed out shells—a bond that was incomplete. We had nothing of substance to keep us together, My devotion wasn’t enough to ..read more

A Tale of 2 Democracies: Liberal versus Illiberal

Once upon a time, in a country known as Democracyland, there lived two neighboring communities: Libertyville and Securitytown. These communities had different government policies when it came to borders and civil rights, making them quite distinct from one another. In Libertyville, the citizens valued individual freedoms and diversity above all else. They believed in welcoming newcomers with open arms, providing asylum to those in need, and promoting the idea that everyone, regardless of their background, deserved a chance to thrive. The borders of Libertyville were porous, allowing people to ..read more
