Psychotherapy or Counselling – Some similarities and differences… Psychotherapy and Counselling are overlapping types of wellbeing support but with differences. Psychotherapy focuses more on longer-term issues and growth, while counselling aims to help people resolve current issues. Counselling and Psychotherapy are both aimed at supplementing & strengthening a persons general mental and emotional well-being. Now being offered *** Free 15 min Consultation *** The Corona virus pandemic that is now sweeping the globe, has without a doubt impacted upon everybody in some way or other. It is an event which has truly highlighted our interconnectedness and dependancy upon one another and one which is bringing out the best and also unfortunately, sometimes the worst in us as a sentient species. In extraordinarily challenging times such as this, I personally find it helpful to remember that there is in fact, good and bad in everyone. Any of us, tested under the right conditions, can lose patience, lash out ..read more

This is particularly true when stories are read to or with them, by a parent or other trusted adult. With this in mind, I invite you read “Adam Asks… A Q ..read more

The Counselling Experience. Blogging as a Counsellor is an altogether new experience for me, so I thought I’d begin with a post about, yes you guessed it, ‘new experiences’. The parallel here is a fairly obvious one I think, though just to be clear, I’m comparing my reticent start in the world of blogging with the experience that some people have in deciding whether or not to begin a period of Counselling or Therapy. So let’s explore this a little further, the link between commencing ‘Blogging’ or ‘Counselling’ and whether indeed there is one at all. It has in fact taken me quite a while longe ..read more

Early Beginnings I haven’t always been a Holistic Counsellor and I certainly haven’t always been a professional Counsellor. My career can in fact be divided into two distinct phases being before and after 2005. My first career commenced last century and lasted some 25 years into the early ‘noughties’… yes, I just said l-a-s-t century. For those like me, born in the 60’s or 70’s, this is probably no big deal. For those coming after however, in the decadent 80’s and beyond, last century now seems possibly almost no more than a figment of ‘old peoples’ collective imagination. This observation is ..read more

Workplace wellbeing… We all at sometime or other find ourselves in need of a little support in life. Happily, often when we do, the right support shows up in the form of a family member, friend, casual acquaintance or work colleague. The Employee Assistance Program (EAP) offered through Life Matters: Holistic Counselling (LM), is a confidential workplace service that is free-of-charge for employees. A work-based intervention progr ..read more
