Why a Stay-at-Home Mom Schedule Won’t Make You Happier

Everywhere we look on blogs, YouTube, and social media we hear about how this or that new schedule will change our life and make us 222% more productive. I’m here to call that bluff. No, a new schedule will not change my life as a stay-at-home mom. It won’t make me happier, more fulfilled or more productive. Also, a schedule will NOT make your baby happier. Look, I get it. Some people, some moms and babies thrive on schedules, structure, and sameness. Not me. Not my babies either. Maybe not you either? Or maybe you’re just reading this out of curiosity about where I’m going with this wild idea ..read more

I have been told way too many times that breastfeeding my baby to sleep is a bad idea. For some reason, breastfeeding our babies to sleep has turned into such a highly debated topic. And I don’t like it. I’m here to put an end to it once and for all. Well, at least I’ll try. First of all, there is absolutely nothing wrong with breastfeeding your baby to sleep! It will NOT spoil them. It does NOT create bad sleep habits. And I don’t care what expert, sleep consultant, or relative tells you otherwise – it’s simply untrue. Breastfeeding your baby to sleep is “normal, healthy, and developmentally ..read more

This blog is real…not perfect

I quit this blog last year. I made my first $4 and quit. Part of it was due to responsibilities of motherhood. Part of it was covid-19 and worry and fear around how our lives were changing. But, part of it was also due to perfectionism. I was trying to create a perfect mommy blog, with perfect content – like a lot of mommy blogs. Not a mommy blog that’s authentic and true to me. It was so frustrating because I spent way to much time proofreading, editing and obsessing over my word choices at a time when I should have been focused on just creating fresh content and connecting with other moms on ..read more

(Written originally in 2018, updated October 2020) I’m not gonna lie, this month has been tough. I try not to pay much attention to all the hype around “leaps” and “regressions.” Why? Because I don’t want the expectation that my baby is going to be fussy and have multiple night wakings just because he is “x” months old. Expecting night wakings and expecting extra clinginess ensures that it will actually happen because as the ti ..read more

Mom burnout is so real, especially in 2020. This year is HARD. Nowhere to go, everything is closed. We’re home with the kids ALL the time. Often with no help. It’s lonely, overwhelming, frustrating, anxiety-inducing and even depressing. For many, it’s a doubly awful year because of the fires and extreme weather. We’ve had smoke in my area, but luckily it was just a couple days of staying indoors because of bad air. I can’t even imagine what some of you are going through. The thing is we are Moms. We can have all of these hard times, and difficult feelings, but our kids still needs us. Sta ..read more
