Last night, we had the chance to check out Crown Shy, a fantastic new restaurant in downtown NYC. The space was elevated casual with food that was mind-blowingly good. At a pricey but not extravagantly so cost, it’s definitely on our list for another visit. Here’s our bar review of Crown Shy. Background Crown Shy is a new restaurant in downtown Manhattan and the first solo project of Chef James Kent and Restaurateur Jeff Katz. Chef Kent formerly worked at Eleven Madison Park, the Nomad Hotel, and Del Posto — a pretty impressive pedigree. He brought along a fair number of staff f ..read more

Last month, we had the chance to check out Le Club, a chic newly renovated bar in NYC’s Meatpacking district. The space was elegant and lavish. The drinks were creative and the food was light and delicious. Here’s our bar review of Le Club. Background Le Club is the newly redesigned bar room area of Joel Robuchon’s two Michelin star restaurant, L’Atelier. Opening this year in September (2019), the space was formerly named Le Grill de Joel Robuchon. Don’t worry, Le Club still has the same chef as Le Grill and they hired a top of the line beverage crew. Now, however, the bar has ..read more

A few weeks ago, we went to the grand opening of a new, very affordable Omakase restaurant in Chelsea: Mojo Sushi. The service was perfect, the sushi delicious, and at $65 for a 12-course, hand prepared sushi meal — Mojo definitely has our recommendation. Here’s our restaurant review of Mojo Omakase. Background Opening less than a month ago (the end of November 2020), Mojo is one of the newest sushi bars in NYC. At the moment, the only online presence that we can find is its Instagram account: @mojo.omakase. That being said, the spectacular quality and fantastic price point are s ..read more

When my fiancee and I were last in Paris, we decided to splurge and have lunch at Guy Savoy a la Monnaie de Paris. It was — without a doubt — the best meal that we had ever had. And we’re saying that after eating around all of Paris for a week! Here’s our restaurant review of Guy Savoy in Paris. Background Guy Savoy’s Paris restaurant is one of the best restaurants in the world. Climbing to the top of several world rankings in 2017 and 2018, the cuisine is classically French but served with an unmatched level of precision. The three Michelin star rating is well deserved and — if ..read more

Patent Pending – NYC Bar Review

I had a chance to stop by Patent Pending last night. It’s literally hidden in flatiron NYC and is one of the newest speakeasies in the area. I really enjoyed the bar and think that you would too. Here’s my review of NYC bar, Patent Pending. Setting Getting In It’s definitely not easy to find this speakeasy if you don’t know where you’re going. From the outside, it looks like a regular coffee shop. In fact, it is a coffee shop until 4pm every day. At that time it closes and then reopens at 5pm with a more clandestine purpose. Patent Pending Outside When you walk in you’ll ..read more
