Why do they grow so fast?!

It was around the time when my baby boy was seven or eight weeks old when it hit me. When we put him into a pram, it started to look like it finally suits him. The tiniest outfits that just a second ago were sagging on him didn’t fit anymore. His socks which seemed like boots when we put them on the first time, now barely covered his little feet… Our newborn started becoming a baby… I went through the photos we took since the first minutes when he was with us, and I had tears in my eyes. Comparing this tiny and unaware, skinny little newborn he was, with a chubby baby that starts to respond t ..read more

The eighth week was challenging. Couple of things we weren’t ready for happened and amplified each other, making us exhausted, overwhelmed and anxious. According to several development theories, the eighth week marks a development milestone. It is also a peak of when babies cry the most according to the pattern called a crying curve - http://purplecrying.info/sub-pages/crying/why-does-my-baby-cry-so-much.php. That wasn’t necessarily the case. I fell into the fallacy of having more time and attempted to sort out a few things that were pending for a prolonged time. I wanted to get rid of things I don’t use anymore. Finish a few ..read more

It was a tough day. Our baby boy was almost three weeks old, and this was the first time when he was fussy for most of the day. Most of his naps were really short. He was asking for feeds more frequently than so far, taking only an hour or less break between them. In the afternoon, he started crying like the end of the world had just happened, and we couldn’t console him at all. He would only stop crying while he was feeding or being close to mum’s chest. These were our only options… I must admit it was a challenge for both of us. Ironically, we had been watching an online course about infanc ..read more

My baby has arrived early September 2019, a bit ahead of schedule, taking us by surprise. On one night, we jumped out of our bed and rushed to the hospital only to learn the new chapter of our life is about to start. “I wish someone had told me” - I remember my partner going through books and internet pages after we found we were expecting a baby. Some of them were painting “a real picture” of pregnancy, childbirth, and having a baby - often focusing on the painful and stressful part. We got scared. We felt like most voices we heard were telling us how hard it is all going to be and how littl ..read more
