I was nominated by Alexandra @ you and me and a cup of coffee for the food award. I’m happy to be nominated for something while in quarantine. Alexandra’s blog is one after my own heart (it is about fashion+ baking + fitness). Thank you Alexandra for the nomination! Below are the questions I was asked and my answers: 1. What is the fanciest, most exquisite dessert you’ve ever tried? I had a manager from Sicily who gave me authentic Sicilian Cannoli’s. They were unforgettable. 2. If you could swap your current diet for a specific country/region cuisine for one week, which would you pick? aah j ..read more

Just incase you are unaware, It’s 2020. We are in the middle of a pandemic, and many are stuck inside. A week ago, “quarantine baking’ trended on twitter, and enthusiastic participants shared the desserts that they now have the time to bake. I salivated and hankered for only 99% of the treats – as the remaining 1% was not appealing. (Word to the wise,  if you are going to post your baking on twitter, at least make it appetizing, and ensure to tag yours’s truly on twitter @_cookiesarelife). A lack of, or limited amount of exercise, plus (+) an increased consumption of food, is the textboo ..read more

If you have been following this blog (even a little), you may have remarked that I am particular about hygiene. I felt like an anomaly until the Coronavirus reminded people to wash their hands. Although handwashing is good, it should not take a pandemic for people to practice what I believe is common sense. I have consumed PLENTY of baked goods, and I have met several people who bake. Some of my experiences were delicious and heartwarming, while other things caused my stomach to turn. ( I wrote about one such experience here). One of my biggest peeves are bakers who do not take hygi ..read more

Before 2016, when an opinion was unpalatable, people parted ways in civil disagreement. Today we have cancel culture.  This alarming trend attempts to stomp out anyone, or anything, that may not align with limited world views. Unfortunately, cancel culture has catapulted to a point that does not allow for atonement. For example, spotless and sin-free cancel journalists trumpet the cause. They will search twitter for hours, unearthing scoops to deem a person unfit for society. The tables of baked goods is something that many look forward to during the holidays. The smell of fresh cinnamon rolls can almost make you forget your troubles. Holiday baking brings out the best and the worst in bakers. But people are often too busy munching on delicious treats that they barely notice the latter. But I don’t ignore the weird stuff. During the holidays, I tend to observe more than I eat. Over the years, I noticed that bakers do stuff that no one really talks about. Infact, sometimes people pretend that these things don’t happen, and are instead comfortable with assuming the r ..read more

Source: Mr. Chocolate.com I wish I could drink a potion and get a flat stomach, perfect skin, and luscious hair. However, this is not the way life works. After I failed with ‘diet pills’ and ‘slimming garments”, I finally accepted that sexy abs do not appear overnight. The stomach of my dreams requires a steady dose of discipline, and persistence. Similarly, healthy self -esteem does not happen without constant effort. The good news is you can develop high self confidence, if you are willing to work for it. It may seem doubtful, but baking can uplift self-confidence, as long as you don’t eat e ..read more
