Egypt Falls in Beautiful Cape Breton Have you ever stood before a roaring waterfall? It can be deafening, but magnificent at the same time. We are drawn to such things of beauty. I have stood before the mighty Niagara falls in Ontario. They were awe-inspiring for sure. I remember the deafening roar, the lights changing on the water, crowds of people all talking, and being bitten by really big flies. A memory that will always stay with me. I prefer the peaceful settings of the countryside however. A babbling brook, a well beaten path through the quiet forest. Coming upon a waterfall, while not ..read more

THE UPSIDE OF LIVING THROUGH A PANDEMIC
Healthy Living | Living my life well with Fibromyalgia

A beautiful misty morning Some may hate the social isolation and social distancing that has been forced on us by this Covid-19 pandemic. Especially those of you who are extroverts, who need to be around people to be energized and feel complete. For many it is a real test of endurance for sure. I am an introvert. I have relaxed for the first time in more years than I can remember. I still wake up thinking what day is it? What do I need to do today? or, where do I need to go? But then I remember that I don’t have to go anywhere, and I relax. I feel at peace. That is an awesome way to start the d ..read more

Beautiful morning sun I haven’t written a blog for a while as I have been busy packing and moving, then unpacking. I have been running on Adrenalin for weeks and am amazed at what I have been able to accomplish. Unfortunately I have finished moving, the adrenalin has worn off, and I have crashed. My pain is worse, I am not sleeping again, alas the story of my life. If I could only keep going at the pace I was I could be a different person. Unfortunately, driving oneself flat out for an extended period of time is not a solution. The consequences soon catch up with you. On a happy note we are al ..read more

A very tired meInsomnia is an enemy. For those of you who have it, no explanation is needed. For those of you who have never had it, insomnia is the inability to go to sleep, to stay asleep, or you to wake up too early and cannot go back to sleep. You get up feeling tired, you have no energy, your moods are all over the place, and it can effect your health, work performance and quality of life. For some, insomnia may only last for a few days, for others, it can go on for months, even years. Long term insomnia can really take a toll on ones health. My insomnia started many years ago ..read more

WEATHERING THE COLD WITH CHRONIC ILLNESS

Boardwalk to Pomquet Beach Antigonish N.S.It is milder outside today. You can almost watch the snow melting. Oh, how I long for spring. This year more than ever before as I have been so limited in what I can do. Even days when the mind is willing, the body has not been. I have had Fibromyalgia for more than 20 years, but I didn’t realize how well I was doing until I developed Polymyalgia, which caused a bad flare of the fibromyalgia. It has definitely made me feel my age, and then some. Of course, all that did nothing for the depression that is always present this time of year. It is st ..read more

I HAVE FIBROMYALGIA AND MY FEET ARE ON FIRE

Out for a walk with Chubby, oh my.I know, that sounds like a good thing, ‘my feet are on fire’, like I’m a regular Speedy Gonzales. But no, literally, my feet are burning. Especially the heals. A sharp tingling numbness that burns. This always worsens at night and it is not uncommon with fibromyalgia. It used to only be bad if I tried to sleep with flannel sheets on the bed. But now it doesn’t matter what I use for sheets, my heals burn and tingle sharply every night. and one foot has the same burning tingle on top. Fibromyalgia is most likely the cause, that is what my doctor told ..read more

My Cinder boy, 4 winters ago.Cinder todayHard to believe Cinder was so small. The years pass so quickly. Time does not stand still for anyone. I remember when our children were aged 12, and 10, my husband and I in our early 30’s, wishing I could freeze time. To keep all of us where we were. Alas we cannot, and time marches on. It seems only yesterday our first grandchild, our only granddaughter, Charlee was born. Now she is 5’7″ and going on 15. Three grandsons followed. Eli, our oldest grandson, is going on 13. He is at least 2″ taller than his sister. Ezekiel is now 8, and Jude ..read more

Reflecting on life, and the beauty around me Today it is cold out, not too bad for February really, -5 , but the sun is shining, and that makes all the difference. That beautiful sun can lift ones spirits and give us a desire to get out of bed, to do something. It is amazing the effect the sun can have on us. One can shift from the depths of despair to being happy and motivated. Even physical pain seems more manageable when the sun is shining. This is the time of year we start to feel the heat in the sun again. Going for a drive, you almost need to take your coat off in the car. Scarf ..read more

LIFE IS A BALANCING ACT WITH CHRONIC ILLNESS
Healthy Living | Living my life well with Fibromyalgia

Beautiful little ChickadeeLife is a balancing act. Even more so when you live with a chronic illness., or multiple chronic illnesses. Funny how we want to please other people, to have them think well of us. Like their opinion somehow makes us acceptable or not. And then we base how we view ourselves accordingly. That is terribly flawed thinking. I am me. You are you. We carry my own burdens. We feel our own pain. We live with our own thoughts, and fears, and desires. We all are different individuals, with different circumstances with different limitations and coping machinations. No ..read more
