B.C. eagle and wildlife photography is a genre for photographers concerned with documenting various forms of bald eagles in their natural habitat. As well as requiring photography skills, wildlife and eagles photographers may need field craft skills. For example, some animals are difficult to approach and thus a knowledge of the animal's behavior is needed in order to be able to predict its actions. Photographing some species may require stalking skills or the use of a hide/blind for concealment. In the early days of photography, it was difficult to get a photograph of wildlife due to slow len ..read more

This year brings new challenges, new adventures ( even if spent at home ), new things to be grateful for and a new outlook for the years ahead.   Last year, we saw incredible examples of unity and togetherness, despite so many of us being forced to remain apart. It was also a year of celebrating the small moments and grieving over the larger ones that impacted us most.  Now more than ever, it’s important to honor the power and impact of visual storytelling. We were asked to reflect on the past year, look through our portfolios and tell our story of with just one photo. What m ..read more

Nature and Art Photography  What feeds our hearts and our art are the untouched, open spaces in nature. These are places where I find respite and restoration and feels connected to something larger than myself. The open space that encourages me to breathe deeply, look closely and listen intently to the roar of the ocean or the silence of the forest; the natural landscapes that speak of ever changing seasons and reminds me of our own cycles that are part of this ongoing, remarkable transformation.  We seek places like this every day as I hike our coast line and mountain trails, ca ..read more

We work in short increments to keep your pet interested. We think of your pet as a toddler, and you'll have a good idea of how long we can keep the pets attention span.  By taking breaks and only shooting a couple of photos at a time, we have a happier, more engaged pet for the photo shoot. If we have another person nearby, it might be easier if they use the toy to play with the pet while we capture pictures. Tug-of-war toys work great for dogs, and string-type toys work well for cats, as we can entice them to come over. Any toy that keeps the family pet mostly in the same place should ..read more

People photographs fall into two categories: portraits and candid. Either can be made with or without your subject's awareness and cooperation. However near or far your subject, however intimate or distant the gaze your camera casts, you always need to keep in mind the elements of composition and the technique that will best help you communicate what you are trying to say. Get Closer: The most common mistake made by photographers is that they are not physically close enough to their subjects. In some cases this means that the center of interest—the subject—is just a speck, too small to have an ..read more

Tips For Landscape Photography

We've all had the experience: Driving through a beautiful landscape, you stop at every scenic overlook to make photographs sure to capture the grandeur of what you see. You get home, look at the pictures, and find them flat and boring. All the elements that enthralled you at the time are there, but not the feeling. Why? When we look at a landscape, our eyes travel over it and selectively focus on the elements that we find appealing. Our field of vision encompasses a great deal of the scene, but our eyes and brains have the ability to ignore all except the most alluring details. Lenses and sens ..read more
