A little while ago, I managed to get hold of some empty cigar boxes. One caught my eye, a wooden one, and a quick spray of white paint later, it was ready for a makeover. All I need to do now is find a place to put it (or a buyer!). I started doodling flowers using a Sharpie and then filled in with the shell pattern using an ultrafine Sharpie. This is the next instalment in a short series of new tangle patterns. I like the geometry of this one, with the curves interplaying with the curves. The negative space is quite pleasing as well, with a cross appearing as the pattern is tiled. Below are a sample card and two 3D versions of the pattern etched into wood.
