My new tangle - SIROS - and  a reminder to the beautiful Mackintosh Roses It's almost one year ago that I wrote my last blogpost. For me blogging is really too time consuming and I share my work mostly on Instagram (SimTangle_czt) Today I decided to publish a new tangle and to post it also here on my blog. Many of you know, that I love Art Deco (Art Nouveau, Jugendstil...). I posted several times about my experiences in Glasgow and around exploring the beautiful work of C.R. Mackintosh.  This inspired me to draw the Mackintosh Roses, which I draw from time to time, which are drawn s ..read more

I am very proud of my tangle MySwing which has been published on tanglepatterns.com in December, 2016. It was my first tangle at this site and the special blogpost has been visited 16.859 times already! I did not expect that at all and I thank you all who like to draw MySwing. During the last weekend I played a little bit with this tangle and found some new possibilities of drawing MySwing : How to draw a MySwing Flower This is a sketch with an idea only with pencil on a sheet of my notepad. I did not have my tangle tools available ..read more

In April we had the opportunity to take part to a beautiful new Video Project by Zentangle HQ- accompanied by ProjectPack09. It was announced as a Spring project and so it was no surprise that the main color of the project is GREEN! Normally, I am not a great lover of green, but this project was so full of spring power like I can watch daily in the nature- just beautiful. This time I was too late to get the Project Pack with the original materials, so I decided to draw with my glass pen and Ecoline watercolor inks instead of the Sakura Micron pens which came along with the material pack. I lo ..read more

Currently we live in a crazy time- the Corona virus has influenced the daily life all over the world and has caused lock- downs. In Saxony, where I live, we have had some weeks to stay at home (and we have still...), with little exceptions for a walk, for instance. So we got really new views of our home town and nearby surrounding. My husband and me spent a holiday week at home- with some walks around our home. Normally, our hometown Dresden is crowded with lots of tourists and now we have our city only for us. It feels a bit surreal. During a walk through the historic city of Dresden one S ..read more

Here is the documentation of my Zentangle class with "Relaxagons" which I run end of January. Relaxagons are hexagonal shaped tiles.  Marguerite Samama, CZT from Netherlands, introduced these tiles. You can get them and belonging tutorials on her Etsy shop ("Happytangling"). You can create amazing mosaics with Relaxagons.  I have created some of them virtually (copied one and arranged in a mosaic).   In my class we had enough real tiles to create beautiful mosaics. As a service for you I attach here the list of used materials and some advices and step outs - so you can tangle them if yo ..read more

One of my last classes as a CZT  before the Corona Epidemic knocked down our social life was a class of Grey Tiles. I wanted to introduce the new tiles by Zentangle with grey surface to my students. My preparation was inspired by the Project Pack #7 and the series of videos by Zentangle. As an inspiration for you I attach some hints, and step outs here: We used these materials: Sakura Microns "PN" (dark blue) and "01" (blue) . Sakura Gelly Roll pens white and gold, Charcoal pens in white and light blue. First tile : Zendala Here you can see the step by step description how I created this ..read more

TULIPA, refreshed

One year ago, I presented "TULIPA"as a new tangle here on my blog. I drew it as a field of flowers and I realized, that this was more ZIA than real Zentangle. I had some more ideas in my mind to draw TULIPA more as a tangle - non representative, without direction...- but I was too busy to realize these ideas and than I forgot them... Now, one year later, again in the spring, I recalled TULIPA and I am happy to present a refreshed version of the TULIPA step out and some more tiles with my tangle. TULIPA is easy to draw and has lots of variation possibilities - on white as well as on black, o ..read more
