Read on as Liz discovers the riches of South Carolina’s Lowcountry. White-washed walls frame tall, mullioned windows. Rocking chairs offer a comfortable resting place on a deep porch lined with handsome Doric columns. Nearby ..read more

Docking in Qaqortoq, Anne and Vera disembarked from their Oceania Insignia ‘Atlantic Glaciers and Harbors’ Cruise at their final port on Greenland for a taste of Greenland, to not only discover local food, but become more immersed in Greenland’s culture. The following two days were sea days, one more than was scheduled due to not being able to dock at Nuuk. Apparently no ships had been able to go there for the past few days because of the increased winds and waves creating unsafe conditions at the pier. We were sorry not to see Nuuk, the capital of Greenland, but we thoroughly enjoyed the bea ..read more

Meeting Your Match at the Lisdoonvarna Matchmaking Festival in Ireland’s County Clare

With a dance in her step and a smile in her heart, Liz Campbell embraces the Lisdoonvarna Matchmaking Festival in Ireland’s County Clare as her eyes glint mischievously and a chuckle parts from her lips. Will she be meeting her match? My dance partner’s feet seem to be moving to the rhythm of a different drummer; he’s certainly ignoring the beat of the music I’m hearing. My own feet are desperately trying to sort it all out. After an eternity, the music ends and he steers me off the floor. I’m thinking, “Whew!” when I hear him comment, “You’re a little heavy in the steering, but you dance all ..read more
