Flying in the Philippines is blessed with its own idiosyncrasies that may both frustrate and delight you: You won’t be allowed to board the plane to arrive in the Philippines unless you have a flight out within the 30 days allowed for a tourist visa. Keep this in mind as you may have to show proof of your ticket. Luckily flights within Asia can be quite cheap and short so leaving the country to renew your 30 days can be relatively easy. Don’t forget to check which countries require a visa application ahead of arrival (e.g. Vietnam for Australians!) Arriving at Nino Aquino International Airpor ..read more

Heading to Busan was a last minute decision hence having less than 12 hours here. Our friends Alex and Gabby are both working here as English teachers and failed to mention how awesome it is in South Koreas second largest city. If you don’t have long you can conquer some of Busan in less than 12 hours. You just need to get on that bullet train and go for gold. Note: be aware that you need to pre purchase your train ticket direct from the korail website for W59,000 one way thats about $70 AUD you will need to do this seperatley for your return journey as well. You will need have this printed at ..read more

South Korea most definitely took us by surprise. If you want to be smacked in the face (in a good way) with culture then South Korea is the place. It has an abundance of everything you can think of. us landing in Hongdae, Seoul feeling blissfully happy. Gwanjang Market – Street Food a Netflix Sensation As usual, we were starving and had just watched Street Food the Netflix series episode on South Korea. So we dragged our friend Lauren to Gwangjang Market to help us hunt down the little lady that made knife cut noodles and kimchi dumplings. We almost gave up because we were so hungry (we ate so ..read more

Our friends told us catching the early flight was better so that we arrive to Boracay early and make the most of the day. She was right! However, most hotels don’t really allow you to check in until 2 or 3pm. Which after an early morning flight can seem like forever. There is pretty much zero chance of them letting you check in early as well. We stayed at Boracay Holiday Resort at station 2. The place itself was basic but had all you needed. It had a particularly awesome pool which we didn’t use nearly enough. The breakfast was gross and we didn’t eat it at all. Would we recommend staying here ..read more

It may not be the most extensive list of places to eat as you can imagine there are billions of food joints to suit all budgets. However it is much better to approach your eating experience with no expectations whatsoever. Our profile as food lovers is something like, eat as healthy and as clean as possible as often as you can. But we also appreciate that when you’re travelling you need to try local food and experience culture, which is not always so great for the waste line. However if you seek out to try new, interesting and a mix of food then Manila is wonderful. You can have anything from ..read more

Our friend Nat and her partner Lauren are starting their new life in Manila. Living as an expat in Manila is a pretty common thing these days. They are based in expat-ville “Makati”. One of Manilas Many Rooftop Bars How to get from Manila Airport to Makati: The best thing to do prior to travel is to know where you are headed. Upon arrival you are overwhelmed with taxi options. If you are on a budget you can try taking a coach, but good luck to you navigating which bus to take. be prepared to be pushed and shoved and pointed in the wrong direct and wait on the bus until it’s full. Good company in a journey makes the way seem shorter. — Izaak Walton It came upon us pretty suddenly! if you asked us a year ago what the plan was, never on our wildest dream would we say “to spend the next 7 months in eqch others pocket traveling the world”. They arrived just in the nick of time For the the next 7 months all we have is each other, these two 70 litre back packs and google maps. We have a pretty rough idea of the main countries we will explore but like any traveller out there; we want to see as much as we can e ..read more
