My name is Chantelle Spies, and I am a 24-year-old Chemical Engineer and dog mom, struggling with a chronic illness known as Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (ME/CFS). As an engineer, it is in my nature to want to solve complex problems and optimize processes – my health has proven to be no different.

Chronically Rising – Brainfog
So often people think chronic illness only has physical symptoms, whereas on of the most frustrating symptoms manifests mentally in the form of brainfog. If we forget something please know it is not that it is not important to us – we really cannot remember.

Chronically Rising – Thank you for loving a spoonie!
So often we get stuck in a tailspin where we only see the budding bullies, nosy neighbours and ignorant idiots around us, that we forget to say thank you to the loved ones and friends that remain by our sides despite our chronic illness. “I would do anything to be tired again”. Sounds crazy, right? With chronic illness, everyone assumes you are just tired. How bad can it be? If only it was that simplistic…
Comparing being tired and fatigue from chronic illness is like comparing the ocean to a bucket of water. Technically both are water, but they simply cannot be compared.
