Last night I made the drive to Dutchess Stadium, to visit my former coworker, who is now the radio voice of the Renegades. Plus, it gave me a chance to see Alex Ramirez and the Brooklyn Cyclones. Photo by Charlie Ettel The Mets number four prospect certainly did not disappoint, as the 19-year-old centerfielder went 2-3, with a booming opposite field solo home run to right center field, and an RBI single to left center field. Plus, he also had a walk. I was very impressed by how the ball jumps off this kid’s bat. Defensively he didn’t see much action, but he did make an error after a long run c ..read more

Last night in Port St. Lucie, Jacob deGrom threw off a mound in a professional baseball game for the first time since July 7, 2021. The two-time Cy Young Award winner threw 24 pitches in which 18 were strikes in an inning and two thirds while pitching for the Class A St. Lucie Mets. deGrom struck out 5 of the 6 batters that he faced, and his only blip was a hits batsman on a slider that got away. deGrom’s first two pitches were clocked at 100MPH and his third at 101MPH. Jake hit 100MPH seven times, his fastball was sitting between 97-100, and his slider was coming in at 93 and 94. deGrom will ..read more

As we celebrate our Memorial Day holiday, may we please take a moment to say thank you to the brave men and women of our armed forces who have made the ultimate sacrifice. Because of these brave men and women, we can enjoy all the things that we have planned for today, including watching our Mets play a baseball game tonight at Citi Field. May we also keep the families of the fallen in our thoughts and prayers as well. As we as a nation remember these heroes on this day, they feel the pain and loss every day. From the bottom of my heart, I say thank you for your sacrifice and for letting me w ..read more

After 35 years on the ballot former Brooklyn Dodgers first baseman and original Met Gil Hodges was finally elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame. Hodges is best remembered as the Manager of the 1969 Amazing Mets who shocked the sports world and won the World Series against the Baltimore Orioles. Hodges was elected by the Hall of Fame’s Golden Days Era panel, thus ending a more than 52 year wait for Hodges since he first appeared on the ballot. Hodges was an eight time all star and won three gold gloves at first base. He is considered perhaps the greatest righthanded first baseman in history. At ..read more

It all started weeks ago when the Mets were looking for a President of Baseball Operations and as one by one the people the Mets had in mind for the job either refused or weren’t given permission by their respective organizations to even talk to Mets, Sandy Alderson and Steve Cohen switched gears and concentrated on finding a General Manager. After a lot of names being mentioned for the job the Mets and former Angels GM Billy Eppler reached a 4 year deal to name Eppler the 16th General Manager in franchise history. The 46 year old Eppler checks off a lot of the boxes as what Alderson and Cohen ..read more

If Steve Cohen Can’t Lure David Stearns or Billy Beane to Citi Field Then Matt Arnold Should Be The Next Choice For Mets President of Baseball Operations
Believe In The Orange and Blue

Earlier today Steve Cohen and Theo Epstein had a conversation about the Mets President of Baseball Operations opening and both parties mutually agreed that is what not the right opportunity for Epstein to pursue. That would leave David Stearns and Billy Beane as the top targets for the position. The Mets have tried in the past to interview Stearns, but have been unable to talk to him because Milwaukee has denied the Mets request, and it doesn’t seem like they are going to change their minds anytime soon. If by some chance Milwaukee changed their minds Stearns would have to be the first choice ..read more

As the Mets get ready to play their 1986 World Series counterparts, lets take a look at the last week for the Metropolitans. Tuesday and Wednesday nights would see game time temperatures at a frigid thirty nine degrees and the Mets defense played like they had stone cold hands led by J.D. Davis who committed two errors on Tuesday night as the Mets fell to the Cubs 3-1. Davis would make another error the following night but wasn’t alone as the Mets committed four errors and lost again 16-4. Hopefully the Mets video department erased all content of the game. The next night with a game time tempe ..read more

Thank You Tim Tebow

It all began in his first at bat with the Mets organization when former Heisman Trophy winner Tim Tebow hit a homerun on the first pitch. That was on September 28, 2016 and would be the start of Tebow Mania throughout the Minor Leagues. This past Wednesday Tebow and the Mets announced that he was retiring from professional baseball because as Tebow would say “I feel called in other directions.” Tebow sure had his critics who would say his time in the minors was no more than a publicity stunt and why would he take another players spot on the roster. Tebow was just living out his dream to become ..read more
