SO basically, I'm a high school senior who's looking to study screenwriting/playwrighting and directing. I've narrowed my choices down to SUNY Purchase and Temple. So far, I'm not really liking Temple mainly because of the city but I feel as though it might offer better chances at networking. My Application for MFA - ( Feirstein Graduate School of Cinema - live action- has been accepted and I am excited to start school in the Fall. I did not study film for undergrad, for my undergrad I did fine arts ( photography ) Before fall semester starts I have about 4-5 month time. So, any recommendations of how I can prep better before the program starts. Films to watch? Books to read? Anything else to get me up to speed with all things cinema?

Hi I need some help deciding which program should I go to. is there any student/alumni sharing some production experiences?
For Calarts, is it hard to get a job in the film industry? It seems to me that Calarts is relatively not connected to the industry.
For Chapman, how is the community like? I am also curious about the writing trainings. They change their curriculum into two years, so I wonder if there would be enough time to polish each production ..read more

April 15 is coming up and I still have a decision to make! I am very grateful to have been accepted into MFA programs at both NYU (Dramatic Writing) and Columbia (Film - Writing for Film and TV Concentration). I am most interested in TV writing, but excited to learn other formats as well.
I am seriously torn on what to do. Here are the major differences:
- NYU is 2 years, Columbia is 3 years
- Columbia is technically a Film MFA (ie. shared classes w/ directing + producing students, etc.)...
