Hey There Mamas! I know for me the winter months are some of the hardest for my mental health. It’s cold, dark and we don’t get nearly as much time outside. I’m also learning that my little one gets pretty restless and doesn’t sleep as well when he doesn’t have that time outside to play each day. Here where I live it seems we have skipped fall and gone straight into winter, so I felt this topic pulling at me this week. So without further adieu, here are some ideas for ways to incorporate self-care in the winter months. Open the blinds, curtains, etc. Let in some of that natural light. T ..read more

Hey There Friends! Today as I was scrolling through facebook I found myself almost in tears three separate times. I had to stop and think, what was I doing? I was attempting to connect with friends and see what people were up to and instead found myself sucked into stories about people I didn’t even know who were experiencing horrible tragedies. My heart truly went out to them. I also realized that I needed to get off facebook. In this age of 24 hours news and constant social media updates, we can find ourselves bombarded with a ton of information all at once. Our ancestors didn’t have ..read more

Hey Y’all. This past month in my life has been BANANAS! We’ve had multiple things break and require repairs in our home that have required us to contact our homeowner’s insurance and have people in and out. In addition to that, I also started back at work, which I am excited about because I enjoy my work and the money is nice, however, it has made things crazy juggling all of the home repair, the normal home stuff, and work. Then this past week I got a virus from my son’s childcare that has me off work for a week straight and hiding in the bedroom trying not to infect my family. It has felt ..read more

As you are reading this title, you may be thinking, what the h-e-double hockey sticks do these two things have in common. Well my friend, let me tell you. Let’s go back a bit. For the first 26 years of my life, I did not know how to really clean. Growing up, I did my chores (often reluctantly) when my mom asked me to or left me a list. However, I did not understand the importance of cleaning regularly, thoroughly or with any kind of routine. Fast forward to today. I am now 27 years old. I am married and the mom to a super fast and playful one-year-old. Over the past year, I have reali ..read more

Hello! I am so excited to be writing this today. I haven’t been able to write in a while due to our house being hit again and again with sickness and planning and celebrating my sons first birthday. He LOVES Cake. I have been reading a lot this summer about personal development, personal growth, and self-care. In all the books and podcasts I’ve been devouring, I’ve noticed a trend of 5 key foundations that are mentioned time and time again. These 5 things are key for self-care. Without having these in place, we don’t feel our bests and aren’t able to be as present or productive in o ..read more

4 Changes I Made In My First Year of Motherhood
The Self Care Lady

As we are nearing July 1st, my son’s first birthday, I began to think of all of the things that have changed during the first year of his life. Not the typical things – like how he is walking now, the words he is saying or how big he has gotten. I’ve begun thinking about the things that have changed with me, in my life. I Changed Jobs My job was not a good fit for me in this new season of my life. It was a job that I was passionate about, but the systems in place at my job made it stressful and toxic. The work I was doing was supposed to be rewarding, but I was so bogged down with produ ..read more

Cultivating Self-Care

I was listening to a podcast recently and the host was talking about the need to cultivate our passions. (If you’re interested it was Josh and Ryan from the minimalists). What they meant by that was that sometimes passion doesn’t come to us naturally. You don’t just wake up and suddenly become a passionate writer, a painter, a sculptor, a designer. You have to work at it to gain skill and then you become passionate. Now sure, you may have had the passion to engage in the activity at first, but for the activity to BECOME your passion, that takes hard work and dedication. I think self-care is ..read more

Hey there mamas! This topic is so close to my heart right now. My son is 11 months old and we have almost made it to a year of breastfeeding. But first, I feel this topic needs a disclaimer. I support ALL MAMAS no matter how you feed or fed your infant. This is not one of those ‘breast is best’ posts where I am going to write about the all benefits of breastfeeding and shame mamas out there who weren’t able to breastfeed or heck, just didn’t want to. You were made to be the mom for your child, whatever way you feed (or fed) your baby is your decision and I support you. Okay, so bac ..read more
