The Rambling Ramnaths

One of our favorite things to do as a family is to get out and explore our backyard. Or rather, the amazing places right around us. We love to be tourists in our own town. Recently we took the opportunity to explore New Bremen, Ohio, which is a fifteen-minute drive down the road from our house. We only had intentions of visiting a specific museum that we have been meaning to check out for the past six years, but then we thought, why not turn it into a full family day. So, we did, and I’m excited to share with you how you can make a fun family day out of visiting the small town of New B ..read more

9 Reasons the Pro Football Hall of Fame Needs to Be on Your Family’s Bucket List

I can still vividly remember the first and only pro football game I have ever attended. I was in fourth or fifth grade, and my dad had received four tickets to a Detroit Lions game. At this point in my life, I didn’t know much about football, even though I had a dad and two brothers that did. So, I’m at this game, and I’m watching. Everyone is excited and cheering, so of course, I stand up and cheer with the crowd. At one point I notice the referees were throwing these little orange things down on the field. I asked my dad why those men were throwing trash on the ground because from where we w ..read more

A Family Experience with Holiday Lights on the Hill
The Rambling Ramnaths

One of my favorite family traditions that we have, is to get in the car on Christmas Eve and drive around the neighborhoods looking at all the decorations and lights. To me, there is just something so magical about seeing Christmas lights. So, earlier this month we decided specifically to visit a place that had Christmas lights display. We went to Pyramid Hill Sculpture Park in Hamilton, Ohio (I wrote about our visit, which you can check out here), and planned it so we could see their Holiday Lights on the Hill after dark. Let’s just say, it did not disappoint! Logan pretty much declared he w ..read more

A few months ago, I was scrolling through a discount site, looking for some ideas for a day date for Shadrach and me. I’m always on the look for fun, cheap things we can do besides dinner and a movie. In my search, I came across Pyramid Hill Sculpture Park, and it intrigued me. So, I bought the Groupon with plans to go on a day date with Shadrach. Well, this is Ohio and the weather had different plans whenever we tried to go on a date. So, we ended up making it a family day trip, and I have to say, I’m happy we did! Our Groupon was only good until February 2018. So, I was desperate to make su ..read more

The Ultimate Family Weekend Guide to Cincinnati, Ohio

Family time… what is the first thing that pops into your head when you see those words? For me, it means special time just Shadrach, Logan, and I enjoying each other’s company uninterrupted. If I’m being honest, finding uninterrupted family time seems to be getting harder and harder. Life seems to be good at throwing distractions in our path, and before I know it, it’s been months, and we haven’t spent any quality time together. Each year we set a family goal of spending one weekend a month getting out of the house and having quality time together. I must admit that this past year we have ..read more

Hiking Ohio: Charleston Falls Preserve
The Rambling Ramnaths

Before Shadrach and I became parents, we would go hiking as often as we could. Then, when Logan was born, it kind of just got pushed to the back burner. We forgot about how much we enjoy it. Recently I got the itch to get out and go hiking again. I figured Logan was getting old enough to enjoy it and he should be able to go for a while without wearing out. So, I did some research and went on the hunt for a local place to hike that is family friendly. My requirements were: A place that is less than an hour from our house A picnic area Restrooms (preferably with flushable toilets) Trails that w ..read more

What is Your Passion?

Two years ago, today, Shadrach and I decided that we wanted to share our life and passion with you. So, we took a big step and pressed publish on our blog. I have to say, as scary as it was putting ourselves out there, I’m so glad that we did! This has not been an easy journey, but it has been rewarding. We have grown and stretched ourselves in ways we never thought possible, from learning as much as we can about blogging and social media, to figuring out how to collaborate with multiple brands. There have been moments where we felt like we’ve taken three steps backward for every single step f ..read more

7 Ways to Make Family Memories at the Cincinnati Zoo
The Rambling Ramnaths

What is it about zoos that make them the perfect place for family adventures? Maybe it’s the fact that you get to see wild animals from all over the world up close. Perhaps it’s the fact that no matter how many times you go to the zoo, you learn something new every time. For me, it’s the fact that we get to make fantastic family memories each time we go. That might be because one of my favorite stories to tell from my childhood involved the zoo. I wasn’t very old, maybe four or five, and my dad and I had a special day at the zoo, just the two of us. (When you are the middle child and the only ..read more

Ohhh, the dreaded snow day! I don’t know where you are, but here in Ohio, we have had quite a snow-filled winter so far. Even though there were brief glimpses of spring this past week, I know that there is still another month or so of possible snow, rain, and cold. This translates to being stuck inside the house for a bit longer. At this point in the winter season, we tend to have the TV and iPad are going daily (insert mom guilt). Every day, I try to make Logan shut everything off for a few hours and play. Some days he does an excellent job finding things to keep him entertained and some days ..read more
