How to share information under embargo with U.S. media
Jo Detavernier's PR blog

American media will accept information under embargo, but there are unwritten rules that need to be respected and business is not always conducted as it is in Europe. Companies share information under embargo with the media when they want or are willing to make information available but insist on controlling the time at which the information is used in a media report. A company will for example offer a scoop (right to “break” the news) to a specific media outlet and will offer the press release under embargo ahead of time to give the journalist time to research the topic, interview one or mor ..read more

Ten questions are answered on how to be successful with contributed articles in tech media. American tech media offer plenty of opportunities for contributed thought leadership pieces, but sometimes the rules of engagement can be confusing for who is new to writing and submitting contributed content. As Austin grew to become one of the major tech start-up hubs in the world, the Austin tech media scene grew with it. “A world class tech scene deserves world class tech journalism,” started the announcement on a panel conversation regarding Austin’s tech media at SXSW in 2016 and who could not agree with the statement? As Austin grew as a major tech hub, its tech media grew with it, and helped consolidate and galvanize its expansion. I always recommend that start-ups in Austin treat their local tech media well. Your local business media will always be your first champions… and your last defen ..read more

As Austin grew as one of the major tech start-up hubs in the world, its tech media landscape grew with it and helped galvanize and consolidate that growth. “A world class tech scene deserves world class tech journalism.” started the announcement on a panel conversation on Austin’s tech media at SXSW in 2016 and I wholeheartedly agree with the statement. As Austin grew as a major tech hub, its tech media grew, and helped consolidate and galvanize that growth. Tech start-ups in Austin do well to treat their local tech media well. Funding news of tech start-ups will be successful at gaining visibility and credibility on the American market when careful thought is put in the writing of the release, its distribution and the promotion of results obtained.
