When the Journey Seems Too Long

Today, the journey feels like it will never come to an end. That's a lie, but it is how it feels. Last Monday, I took our oldest and middle to our Lyme doctor. We found out that our oldest, Jadon, has Lyme as well. I had prepared my heart but still had faith that this wouldn't be the case. Alas, I stand here knowing that I have passed on Lyme to all my boys. All show symptoms and 2 of the 3 have tested positive (haven't tested the youngest yet). My youngest, only 2, had a tick on him a little ..read more

How to Keep the Kids Entertained: 1. Buy a Fridge that you can't lock the water and ice.  Epic fail on our part last year when we bought our house and had to buy a new fridge. We were just looking for the best deal guys. We didn't look at the fact that it didn't have a lock so that our toddler could flood our kitchen any time he wants. My floors have never been cleaner. (see picture below) 2. Get a Cat.  Have you ever seen a little boy with a cat? Wait, have you ever seen three little boys ..read more

Lyme Patients Don't Always Look Sick

It has been two months since my son was diagnosed with Lyme Disease.  It has not been easy even if we look exactly the same as before we knew.  This is the part of Lyme Disease that is a restless evil. Most Lyme patients don't "look" sick. They appear to look normal and even act normal for the most part, but inside there is a war going on in them. This is why it is so hard to detect when you have Lyme. It will appear as other diseases or health issues. The root of the problem is not those health ..read more

The Lyme Rollercoaster

Days 7-10 of Ethan's Lyme Disease Treatment There is this image that I have always had in my head since I was diagnosed. It's a rollercoaster. It takes a lot longer to ascend up a hill than it does to descend. You hear the tracks underneath you and the anticipation is exciting but also a little unnerving. If you have never been on this particular rollercoaster before, then you have no idea what lies ahead. When you get to the top, you look around and feel free and excited. You see clearly ..read more

Today was a struggle.  As we are on day 6 of Lyme treatments for my little guy, it has been so hard to get him to take the medicine and supplements. He gagged and threw them up when he tried to swallow them and then when I crush them he refuses to take it because they are "yucky." I have gotten him to take it every time but it has taken over an hour most times. I have to go through this three times a day. Trust me, I've tried all the tricks. It just gets old.   While he had a lot of energy last ..read more

Day 2-5 of Ethan's Lyme Disease Treatment DAY 2-June 6, 2019-Today has not been so good, but that is to expect in the beginning. We were trying to avoid a Herxheimer reaction in him by giving him the smallest amount of Lyme medicine but the issue is that he has been so constipated because of his magnesium levels. This has caused some issues and this evening, he has a fever of 99.9, a headache and put himself to bed at 6 pm. He had no appetite all day.  We are giving him magnesium to try to get ..read more

The Day My Child Tested Positive For Lyme Continuing the story of my journey through Lyme Disease  Even with emotions flooding, I know that God is in control and that there is a lesson learned in this and a victory on its way. I guess we should start at the beginning. When I was 16, I began to show symptoms of a disease that I had no idea existed. It took doctors until I was 17 to diagnose me. The forgotten year, as I call it, just so happened to be my junior year. I felt lost, afraid, stupid ..read more

The Sun Is Shining ... After the rainy year of 2018 and going into 2019, I am done with rain. I am thankful for what rain has provided, but too much of rain has done damage and put us all in a funk here in NC. BUT TODAY, today the sun was shining! I don't know about you but my whole world changes when the sun starts peeking into my windows. Our new house that we purchased last April has the perfect setting. The whole front of the house beams of sunshine and when it is hot outside, we get the ..read more

"The days are long but the years are short." How many times have we heard that quote and cringed? Yes, we know that Children are a blessing from the Lord. Yes, we love our children. That is NOT the issue. The issue is that the days ARE long when they are little. We feel like we are failing and we can't keep up with others. We read advice from blogs and books. We watch our friends post beautiful moments of their kids laughing together on social media and wonder why our kids are constantly ..read more

Going to Battle for Our Children

Going to Battle for Our Children The reason why it's so important for us to intercede for our kids.  I have always known that I am an interceder. When I saw an ambulance on the side of the road, my immediate reaction was to pray. It has always been my first reaction, but it stems from knowing that prayer is powerful! The enemy has come to rob, kill and destroy. Jesus has warned us of that in John 10. We are also reminded in Ephesians 6 that we are not fighting against flesh and blood (people ..read more
