I set out early from Fonyaine Ct and headed over to Swan Bay salt marsh and spent a disappointing 20mins there. I had a better time at Lonsdale lakes Queenscliffe with 37sp including 3 Australian Spotted Crakes, over 100 wader with a good number of Curlew Sandpipers and some Banded Stilts. Taylor Ct Ocean Grove was back to ordinary birds. 9/1/2024 In the late morning we drove down to visit my old frien ..read more

Please note this is an ongoing blog, please come back later to find out where we went and see the photos of the trip. 17/11 2023 93km Finished work at midday and got the train back to my friend’s house, a quick lunch and shower, finished the packing of the car and we headed off at 14.30, through the gathering traffic and up over the Perth hills to Collins Rd Westdale and went in search of the shrike-tit, but couldn’t find it again, my consolation bird was some Regent Parrots that were very flighty. As usual when camping it was dinner early with both flies and mozzies and bed early, and read. 1 ..read more

Please note that this is an on going blog, please come back later to see more photos and find out what we’re up to. 5/4 It was 19.00 when we left Greenwood in the northern suburbs of Perth to head north. We had just returned from our trip to South America. Our friends at Greenwood had kindly let us keep our car at their place and Stephen had come out to the airport to pick us up. We drove into the night and got to Cliff Head south camp where we called it a night. 6/4 Up early, did my round and were soon heading north. We stopped at Murchison River Galena camp for lunch, there was a strong flow ..read more

Please note this is an ongoing blog with lots more photos to come, so do come back soon. 23/2 It was 15.00 when we left the house sit in Greenwood that we’ve been at for the last week and a bit and walked down to the bus stop, the bus took us to Warwick station, into Perth on the train and out to the airport. If we’d got it right and gone to Airport Central it would have cost me nothing, but we got off at Redcliffe and got the bus to T3 which we found was only for Qantas international, so we got the shuttle bus around to T1, sat around on the seats until it was time to check in and we were soo ..read more

15/9/21 217km Up 5.00 and packed the car kissed Bev goodbye at 7.00 and went up to the Council Shed to fill up the water container, check my tyre pressures and have a quick chat with Brett my boss who is just coming back from a break of 5 weeks. I had some time to kill so went up to the Nackeroo Monument Rd site and got the Black-tailed Treecreepers that are always there and the Masked and Long-tailed Finches that come to the road side, it looks like they are taking minerals from the side of the bitumen. I then went to the water tanks where the water leak has been plugged but there’s just enou ..read more

Please note this blog is a continuation of the North American Bicycle trip, also note that this blog is incomplete, I’ll be adding to it as time goes by. The photos are in slide form, at some time in the future I’ll get around to converting them to digital and posting them here. 15/9/83 The plane was an hour late leaving Edmonton Canada. The flight was ordinary, I read a bit, ate when I was given food. My window seat was over the wing so I couldn’t see much so I slept a lot. 16/9 45 miles When the plane landed I got my baggage early and had no hassles with customs, at last an advantage to trav ..read more
