Earlier this week, Michael Bierut, Sonia Williams, and I spent an hour on the phone together. Michael is an influential graphic designer based in New York, Sonia is a high school student in Paintsville, Kentucky, and I’m a designer at Automattic, living outside of Boston. Growing up, I had many female figures that taught me the importance of self-care. For the most part, I stuck to it. But what happens when you start having children? My mom would tell me that I needed to make sure my child was taken care of. That meant from the top of his head to the soles of his feet. He was not allowed to go out in public unpresentable. Thanks for joining me! Izaak  Walton said, “Good company in a journey makes the way seem shorter,” and I couldn’t have agreed more. I was blessed with an amazing husband and two wonderful children who keep me on my toes. From sports practice and homework with our 6 year old boy, to tummy time and feedings with our 7 week old baby girl, all while managing to keep our marriage afloat, we definitely have our hands full.
