The White House Office of Management and Budget has completed the review of a final rule to mandate automatic emergency braking systems for light vehicles. OMB’s approval on Monday, April 22 means that the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s final rule for light vehicle AEBs likely will be published in the coming days. Work continues at the Colorado statehouse on a bipartisan pursuit to implement additional rules for commercial vehicles traveling in the state. The Colorado Motor Carriers Association and the Owner-Operator Independent Drivers Association have concerns about the pursuit. The trend of cargo theft in Philadelphia continues to grow, with the most recent incident leaving the driver of the truck injured. Around 5:30 a.m. on Friday, April 19, police responded to a reported robbery in the 4300 block of Byberry Road in Northeast Philadelphia. The thieves made off with two pallets – nearly 100 boxes – of frozen snow crabs. Officials said the frozen crustaceans were valued at $30,000. Truck parking was a key component of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration’s webinar for motor carriers and truckers on April 10. FMCSA has provided further details on just how it is addressing an exacerbated truck parking problem due to the collapse of the Francis Scott Key Bridge on March 26. Colorado legislature advances local authority to set idling rules

The Colorado General Assembly has voted to send to the governor a bill that would revise idling rules. State law has a uniform idling standard that prohibits a vehicle from idling for more than five minutes within any 60-minute period. Certain exceptions apply.
