Church Ceiling Treatment

My church is having to do some major construction on the sanctuary roof for structural reasons. It’s one of those really huge old rooms that was designed for organ and choir with minimal amplification and truly sounds awesome for that application. No parallel walls, raked floor/balcony, a cool cheveron ceiling design. But we’re basically a rock Venue at this point and the decay is way too long. Anyways, the ceiling has to be entirely reconstructed and we want to build in acoustic treatment while we’re up there. If we used broadband absorption on the entire thing (with a fabric track system) a ..read more

How would you treat this room on a budget?

Just moved into a studio. The dimensions of the room are 17' x 14' with a height of 12' and the walls are drywall. I'm using the space as a combined office/studio. I'd love to fully treat the room, but given my budget, it's just not feasible at the moment. My question is: If you were given this room and only had a small budget ($500-1000) to use on treating the room, what would you prioritize and why? Would you get bass traps? Would you prioritize treating the rear wall? The sides? The front facing wall? Would you treat the bottom half of the room first? Would you try treating the ceiling at ..read more

Hi everyone, can i get some advice on my setup for beats . On the most part it sounds good, although bass sounds kinda echoey on my monitors, I put some foam panels behind them to help fix the sound . there is a big window to the right and a door to the left. I was confused cause i randomly turned my right monitor to face the curtain on the right and the bass actually sounds a lot better, so i dont know if i should get some corner bass traps or what submitted by /u/Skii808 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Hi guys. Complete noob at this sort of thing, and bought first couple of things right off amazon. I bought a subzero m100 reference mic and a Behringer UMC22 audiophile 2x2 USB audio interface with Midas microphone preamp. I just installed rew was a bit surprised with the amount of calibration involved. And the first set is to have a calibrated mic... well here's the problem. I can't seem to find any cal files online anyway regarding this mic. How important is it to have such a cal file ? submitted by /u/Professional-Ad-5175 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Echoey hallway

Hi y'all. My living situation is weird as hell. There's a couple loud ass kids that scream and stomp up the stairs when I'm trying to sleep. I have a thin door that blocks zero sound so it all just travels into my room. Would putting acoustic foam on one side of the door work, or should I put it on both sides? I'm just trying to get some better sleep. Thanks! ETA: I live in a shit hole apartment so I'm not replacing the door. I'm just looking for something cheap to help reduce the noise submitted by /u/sasha_cyanide [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Advice on finding acoustical consultants in South Florida and the Hamptons?

I'm looking for acoustical consultants to examine and advise on sound issues in two separate residences, one in West Palm Beach in South Florida, and the other in the Hamptons in New York. I've come up empty so far searching around on Google. (It seems like most of the folks I've found focus almost exclusively on office, restaurant, industrial, and other commercial work.) Do folks have any recommendations, or any advice on where and how best to find professionals? submitted by /u/aroseddit [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Im looking for a sound reducing acoustic foam that can be used in a beanie/headband. Im imagining about 10cm of foam (not super dense because we dont want it too hot) on each side. It'd be great if it reduced sound by 20% or more. Does anything exist? submitted by /u/JLatfofy [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Low tech tips for investigating source of low frequency noise?

I had severe insomnia a few years ago due to low frequency noise that was bothering me nightly - it's back (thankfully, no return of the insomnia so far) and I'm hoping to get some advice here. The noise sounds like disembodied bass music coming from a subwoofer, but there's no music, it's just the low frequencies. I can hear the noise outside the house as well as inside, but inside it is amplified. It's the worst next to the wall where I sleep. Brown noise helps dampen it. My significant other can't hear it. I'd like to know what's causing it to know if anything can be done about it. After d ..read more
