Celebrate Peanut Day Peanuts are very versatile, usually enjoyed in the form of peanut butter, and they have long been recognized for their nutrition. So, it is no surprise to me that there is a National Peanut Day… and remember, everyday is worth a little celebrating! Let’s discover more about the peanut and you can reward yourself with the best peanut butter cookies ever (recipe below). About Peanuts The name peanut can be deceiving, peanuts are not nuts at all… they are part of the legume family and are in the same family as peas and beans. Peanuts do have a similar texture and taste to nu ..read more

The Best Peanut Butter Cookies… Ever

Trying These Is A Must… Seriously Everyone has had peanut butter cookies, some are better than others… but these my friends… they are the best! After playing with a couple of recipes I have found something I love and I would say they are fairly easy to make. Some might call these a little nontraditional, as they are a cookie “sandwich” and there is a bit of oatmeal, but it is only for texture, not taste. I made these the other night and they were a HUGE hit, in fact, my hubby said these were probably the best cookies he’s ever had, peanut butter or no peanut butter.  What You’ll Need I w ..read more

The Taste of Summer We are nearing Labor Day here in the US and that means summer is on it’s way out, at least in the Midwest. During my Keto moments I discovered many uses for cauliflower and found a way to use it to make a version of tabbouleh, which is a Middle Eastern dish. This feta summer salad, with the fresh veggies and lime, just taste like summer… and it tastes better the next day. (Jump to Recipe or Print Recipe) What You’ll Need This salad has pretty easy to grab ingredients  and many of them may already be on your shopping list. Besides the feta, this feta summer salad will n ..read more

The Empowerment of Girls

The War on Boys Scrolling Facebook I came across an amazing picture of a little girl wearing softball cleats and a crown… and the story attached. I’ve seen a few senior pictures like this, a picture that shows the empowerment of girls… where a girl will wear a high heeled shoe on foot and a softball cleat on the other. Obviously these pictures are meant to showcase a girls ability to break the mold of what society thinks girls should be, but the picture here, this little girl, I immediately loved it! I have a daughter who would fit this picture perfectly. She played baseball for 5 years, she ..read more

It’s Time to have some Easter Fun! Easter is an amazing time… it usually marks the beginning of Spring and gives us, especially us in the North, some hope of warmer weather. People celebrate Easter in many different ways… and often that includes adding the Easter Bunny into their celebrations… and with that they might include a letter from the Easter Bunny! Creating some Magic When my kids were little, I loved creating the little touches of magic for them. It was fun to make Leprechaun traps or leave letters from the Tooth Fairy. As my littles have grown older, those little things have become ..read more

Teaching Honesty

Honesty is the Best Policy We have all heard honesty is the best policy. We have also all heard that little white lies don’t hurt anyone. Sometimes… our children are caught in the middle of this and it is important to send the right message.  Honesty, in my opinion, is the foundation of any relationship and is a pillar of good character. Children often hear about being honest or “not lying” but really don’t understand the “whys” or “hows”. Why is it important? How will both being honest and dishonest effect me? Honesty can be learned by observation, many things can be learned this way… bu ..read more

It’s Summer and Time for Fun in the Sun For those of us in the Northern Hemisphere, July means summer and lots of blue skies and warm days. In Canada and in the United States, July also brings festivities with Canada Day and Independence Day, both of which include many outdoor activities, including picnics, so it is fitting that in the United States, July is National Picnic Month! See some of my favorite picnic items here When we think of picnics, we think of fresh air, fruit trays, cold salads, laughing, chatting, catching up with friends. Picnics are enjoyable events and deserve a month of c ..read more

A Time to be Thankful

It’s Thanksgiving… It’s that time of year where everyone talks about the things that they are thankful for. November seems to bring it out in us, it’s a time to be thankful. Being thankful can, in general, be hard… especially for adults. It’s hard to be thankful when your fridge is on its last legs, your sewer pipe keeps backing up, your finances aren’t what you’d like them to be… and of course the list goes on… but being thankful doesn’t mean everything is going right and all is perfect, it means simply appreciating life. I live in the US and I really believe that being a citizen gives me muc ..read more

Leftover Turkey… Yes Please! It’s that time of year again… Turkey time! Most people enjoy turkey during the Holiday season and especially at Thanksgiving, but what to do with all that leftover turkey? I don’t know about you, but there are only so many turkey sandwiches I can eat and in past years I have struggled with this. However, last year I got the idea of just modifying recipes I already love and so I started adding turkey to some of my regular dishes… this magically solved the leftover turkey problem. I think our favorite was our Broccoli Bake side dish and adding the turkey turned it in ..read more

Our Positive Rock Garden

Spread The Love A few years ago, our community had positive rocks introduced… and it quickly became a phenomenon. Many communities had this happen and the concept was called different things, but in our community, Positive Rocks became a big hit. The Idea I have heard that this idea was created by many individuals, but I believe the idea originated with The Kindness Rocks Project, if I am wrong let me know, but that is what I have found with some research. Anyway, the premise is basic… paint a rock, give it a positive message, hide it (but not too hard), and allow someone else to find that lit ..read more
