The Soundtrack of my Life
The Modern Rule
by Rubén Mendiola

Soundtrack of my life  There were lots of trains. and musical instruments, a GI Joe that had a bright orange jumper (and was missing a foot because it has gotten stuck in his boot), there were board games, and sports equipment. However, my favorite, by far, was this briefcase; in my memories I see it sometimes military green and other times burgundy.  It had a very sturdy handle and two big lock clips, When I had it with me, it looked like if I was carrying luggage. And I carried it with me everywhere.!  When you opened it, it would reveal a turn table.  And t ..read more

Embracing Our Shadow and Our Light
The Modern Rule
by María Pilar Mendiola Fernández

From theory to practice  Embracing our Shadow and our Light My dad used to say: Living is filling the words with content. I loved spending time with that phrase to figure and out what exactly he meant. As I love words and catchy phrases, my mind liked to wander around this phrase. In the journey of wellbeing, you can spend (at least for me) years learning about awareness, self-love, acceptance, releasing and all sorts of wellbeing concepts. However, it is not until I get to experience challenges at a very intimate level that I truly understand and experience the magical release th ..read more

How to Formulate Our Wishes in the Process of Manifestation
The Modern Rule
by Pilar Mendiola Fernandez

Understanding the process of Unconscious Manifestation for me (phase one of the Manifestation Process by Gary Hendricks) required courage and openness. It was very hard for me to identify that “forgotten sour memory” that deeply affected me as the reason why certain negative situations kept manifesting in my life lately. Now I know that there are things that we feel have been resolved or have been dealt with on a conscious level that may be the very root and the origins of negative and limiting beliefs and thus the constant manifestation of the things we deeply dislike. In addition, not every ..read more

Manifestation Phase One
The Modern Rule

The process of manifestatiOn phase one What helps in a bumpy road?  I am not going to sugar coat the fact that when you embark on a monumental life change, things get bumpy.  In my “Embrace the Messiness blog post“, my first blog story of our blog, I spoke of the variety of emotions that one experiences when life changes occur as well as the agony and intense journey toward making a difficult decision -a decision that usually  involves leaving an old and comfortable life for a life of new beginnings, challenges and the uncertainty that every BIG adventure to new heights ..read more

And Then There Were Stars
The Modern Rule

Your personal and universal numbers for 2019   And Then There Were Stars The Universal and your Personal Number of 2019 The plan was always to lay low on Dec 3st and not leave our house until 2019.  Letting the craziness, mischief and fireworks to the more patient or adventurous residents of Miami and of course, the tourist. I didn’t even wanted to cook so I ordered pizzas early in the night and thrown myself in the couch under the blinking lights of the xmas tree, perhaps for one last time this season; soft chill out music playing in the background.  It was a perfect ea ..read more

Live it Like You Mean it
The Modern Rule

Live it like you Mean it   I have always had conflicted feelings about Christmas.  I love the traditions, the music, the joyous feeling of it all, and personally I think Christmas decorations can make a home look both cozy and amazing.  Personally I love the lights and can go a little overboard when setting up the tree. More than once I have melted extension cords, but that is a story for another time. I don't love Christmas for the winter scenery, hot cocoa and scarfs.  That has never been my experience. Nothing clashes with the idea of a snowy and white Christmas ..read more

Your Choice of Words Matter
The Modern Rule
by María Pilar Mendiola Fernández

Your choice of words matter   The act of urging reflection and using words to support and motivate others is a noble and fruitful task. In my existence, one of my tasks has been to participate in forums to talk to others. I have a unique system for my speeches, but the only constant in my method is a small request I make before I speak, in which I silently ask the universe to send me a sentence that would help someone reflect and improve their lives. In honor of my mom and her eternal brilliance in telling us, as Silvio Rodriguez (a Cuban Singer) would say, the perfect word at the ..read more

The Power of Words
The Modern Rule

mama is always right January 2010  Words have been paramount in my life, I wanted to share with you this short story I wrote in January of 2010, almost 9 years ago and the core of the message still resonates with me.  I hope you get something that can help you from it. Love, Pili. I’ve been looking at the ceiling a lot lately. The truth is that words have not danced across my mind’s stage as they used to.  They say you’re only as young as you feel and on my way back home from a fabulous Christmas vacation, I suddenly came down with the chicken pox. It made its masterful ..read more

Manifesting from Gratitude My life has been filled with magical moments, lessons learned and wonderful people. More than anything I am grateful I was given the ability to be present and understand that time is the only currency that you cannot get back. This outlook on my life does not mean that I have not experienced tormentous moments and had challenges to overcome, more than anything,  the foundation of this perspective on life lyes on a deep sense of gratitude. My dad has a lot to do with this huge feeling in the middle of my heart of joy and appreciation for everything around ..read more

Limitless Motivation: Find Your Queens
The Modern Rule
by María Pilar Mendiola Fernández
3y ago
Find your Queens How did I get to be the “me” that is confident and celebratory of everything there is about me? Was it a journey or just destiny? At forums and events, the people I meet have asked me the same questions I have been asking myself over the years. First, what immediately ran through my mind after being asked these questions was: What? Do I look like that? I cannot say that these questions were not asked by me in a different fashion but along the lines of how did I get to the point where I truly do not care about what people think about my personal style or the way I condu ..read more
