Everybody has heard about foldable phones, dual display devices, but what about rollable phones? That appears to be the next big trend, at least according to several patents and leaks. Among them we find the LG Project B, a rollable smartphone, which is rendered in concept form below by Letsgodigital. LG definitely knows what it’s doing, since it already made one or two rollable TV sets. They just need to minimize the panels and make them portable. Don’t imagine a scroll-like mechanism here, but rather a spring-actioned set of moving parts that let you pull the smartphone from the sides in ord ..read more

LG has been working on a rollable phone dubbed Project B for a while now and it seems that the device is pretty close to being complete. Sources say that the device may be available as soon as next year. The product has been rumored with a flagship codenamed Rainbow, also meant for 2021. It appears that LG isn’t happy with foldables, that’s why they pulled off the second screen cases on the LG V60 and last year’s models. They’re going further now, with a rollable smartphone, dubbed Project B. It’s named like this after the company’s CEO, Bong-seok apparently. Patents uncovered last month confi ..read more

LG Tablet News

It would appear that the rumors are true and LG did indeed prepare a new tablet for 2019. It’s the LG G Pad 5 10.1 model, that comes with the 3 year old CPU Snapdragon 821 and Android Pie. The device was launched only in Korea so far. The design feels a bit old and there’s nothing really new and special here. There’s a 10.1 inch Full HD+ screen in the mix, an 8200 mAh battery which doesn’t sound that bad and Android Pie. The CPU may be a bit of a bummer, since it’s the Snapdragon 821, which was a flagship Qualcomm CPU 3 years ago and powered the original Pixel phone. It’s not very clear why LG ..read more

If you asked me, I would have believed that LG had pulled back from the tablet market, but they’re still kicking. Turns out they’re actually prepping a new device, dubbed LG G Pad 5 and it’s coming soon, having just leaked via a benchmark. The LG G Pad 5 was listed on GeekBench with a relatively modest score and it seems to adopt a Snapdragon 821 CPU. That was the processor of flagship smartphones 3 years ago, so that’s the performance you’re getting. It’s a quad core CPU clocked at 2.19 GHz and the device was listed under the codename LGE LM-T600. Its single core test score of 347 and multi c ..read more

When was the last time you heard LG was launching a tablet? It’s been a hot minute, I’ll admit it, but they’re back with a new design and a pretty old CPU, prepped up for a device known as the LG G Pad 5. XDA Developers discovered that the company is working on a new tablet and we have details below. The LG G Pad 5 is the tentative name so far and we know it’s going to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor, together with 4 GB of RAM and 32 GB of storage. I guess they could do worse in the CPU department, since it’s still a reasonably strong chipset. It was also used by the LG G6 ..read more

Believe it or not, LG has been in the foldable device news more than Samsung lately. I know it’s odd, but it’s real. After discussing dual screen cases for a bit, we now go back to a rollable smartphone patent from LG, a double sided device that has just been patented. Of course, Letsgodigital is on the case and has renders for the unit. We’ve already seen some dual or triple folding LG smartphones, but now it’s time for some next level approaches. After the Z Fold comes this idea, with a roll up display that can bend in two directions, in and out. It all comes courtesy of a design patent file ..read more

LG Tablet News

LG patented yet another foldable phone, this time one that stands out of the crowd, because it’s transparent. The patent mentions ways you can operate the device by doing touch input using its rear side. LG has been experimenting with quite a few foldable device formats. Usually we see them revolving around foldables that are clamshells and bend in a vertical manner, but this time it’s different. The company already unveiled a 77 inch flexible and transparent 4K OLED display at SID 2018. The idea of a double sided transparent smartphone is still pretty fresh. The new patent refers to a “Mobile ..read more
