Something To Look Forward To

A couple of weeks ago, my son Keegan and his girlfriend Amanda got engaged. We all knew it was coming so that wasn’t a big surprise. What was a surprise is how long Keegan had the ring before he popped the question. They both work crazy schedules, so working out exactly how to do it took some time and thought. Once I knew that he had popped the question and she had said yes (not that I ever doubted she would), I called my sisters to let them know. Well, I called one of them, so that she could tell my mom. But I forgot to call the other one!  Something To Laugh About I am starting to have ..read more

The Crawl Space

I have figured out that home ownership is not for the faint of heart. It’s work and it’s expensive. This week has been a week all about my crawl space. You know that space between my house and the ground, just to be clear.  On Monday I got a door hanger from the city water department informing me that I may have a leak. I was grateful that they were paying attention, but petrified at the same time. I immediately called a plumbing company to come check it out. And So It Begins The plumber came that afternoon and crawled under the house to take a look. As he was suiting up to go under the h ..read more

The Good Old Days

The other day I was remembering a time when I went to the beach with some friends of mine. We would go “glamping” in their 2 bedroom, 2 bath camper that had more TV’s than I had in my house.  As we sat on the deck of this camper, people would walk by and wave or stop and have a conversation with us. Everyone was so nice. On this particular trip, we had made friends with the couple that was parked next to us in the campground. They came over and we cooked out, had beverages, listened to music and laughed a lot. They had made us a pitcher of drinks that was so good that I had asked h ..read more

The other day as I was, admittedly, mindlessly scrolling through one of my social media pages, I saw a fairly long post from my friend Carrie. Now, usually I don’t read really long posts because, well, I’m not sure why. It’s not like I don’t have time. But this one, even though long, I stopped scrolling for and read it all the way through. I was happy that I did. It was titled “I Will Never Look at a Fork The Same Way Again”.  After doing a little research, I discovered that this tale originally came from the book “A Third Serving of Chicken Soup for the Soul” and there are many versions ..read more

I have been amazed that over the last 1 and ½ years that I’ve been able to come up with something to write about here on my blog. That includes writing about not having anything to write about. There are times, it takes a lot of thought, some thoughts better than others. Most of the time, the subject presents itself from out of nowhere like magic. But I have struggled with this post for a week now. I had written my next post and it was all ready to go. I was happy with it, but then a police officer killed George Floyd and I couldn’t ignore that.  What I had written suddenly seemed frivolo ..read more

A Mom’s Guide To Mothers Day

One thing we all have in common, is that we all have mothers. I was grown, early twenties grown, when I realized that not everyone had a mother like I did. There are people who have happy mothers, funny mothers, sexy mothers. Sarcastic mothers, mothers that can cook anything and those that burn everything. There are angry mothers, neglectful mothers, helicopter mothers, mothers that work outside the home and those that work at home. Mothers who lived a long time and those that left this world way too soon. There are some of us lucky ones, who had mothers that taught us how to be good people an ..read more

I don’t know about you, but I have talked about, listened to, watched and scrolled through about as much of this virus as I can take. So I am taking a break from thinking about it. It’s overwhelming and I can’t fix it. I don’t have any answers for it and whatever happens is not going to make everyone happy. So I am putting it away for a while and I am going to write about something else! She Works Hard for the Money (From Home) I have been working from home these days and it hasn’t been without its challenges, but I have settled into it nicely. I don’t have to get up as early as I used to beca ..read more

It’s so easy to focus on the bad things that are happening around us during this crazy time.  Just watch the news for a few minutes if you need any proof. This is just a strange time for all of us. As much as I hate to admit it, social media has been my saving grace. Seeing the good things that people are doing, how creative people are and all those things that make me laugh, have made this bearable. I adore those videos of people leaving toilet paper for the delivery person. Creative videos of people singing the same song from different places. Parents homeschooling their children and their s ..read more

How Much Toilet Paper Do You Really Need?

Photo by Erik Mclean on UnsplashIn my last blog post, I talked about being mad and falling out of alignment with the Universe. But let me tell you, the last two weeks with the corona virus has changed my feelings of anger to disbelief and confusion. The way people in the country are reacting, by buying all the toilet paper, water, baby formula and food has me dumbfounded.  Gone Crazy I think the world has gone bananas. Completely bonkers. There are those that think it’s the end of the world. Those that think it’s all made up, a hoax. Those that think it’s political. Those that think it’s mothe ..read more

I’ve Fallen But I Can Get Up, This Time

Every afternoon my daughter Kaylan calls me on her way home from work. We talk about our day and catch up. It’s one of my favorite parts of my day for sure. But, if I don’t answer the phone for whatever reason, I’m otherwise indisposed (i.e. in the bathroom) or I’m outside with the dog or taking the garbage out, she will call a few more times and then leave me a message that usually goes something like this “Mom, I’ve called and called and you aren’t answering. Have you fallen and you can’t get up? Do I need to call the national guard?”  Funny…not funny. I dread the day that I do fall and can ..read more
