Donald Trump recently asked if you were better off four years ago than today. As I looked back at my posts from that time, it was a reminder of just how dark and sinister it was four years ago when we were in the jaws of a coronavirus global pandemic that had shut down the country (and much of the world), preventing families from gathering on Easter Sunday.
On Easter Sunday 2020, my family from across the country gathered on a Zoom screen to spend some time together on a day when we normally would have all gathered at one house for our usual big family meal and Easter activities.

Unfortunately, a lot of these Freedom Caucus members (not all, but many) are just nuts. They are a cancer on the Republican Party: Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene files motion to oust Mike Johnson as House speaker (NBC News).
They have no perception of reality. Republicans may control the House of Representatives by the narrowest of margins, but Democrats control the White House and the Senate. You have to compromise with the other side to get anything done.
But the Majorie Taylor Greens of the would aren’t interested in governing. They’re just interested in making noise, getting their name in the ..read more

“My man’s got aviators, a Corvette, and a job to finish.” -Jonathan V. Last
President Joe Biden, the Democrat many Republicans most like to mock, officially launched his reelection campaign last week. In light of all the negativity about Joe’s run, his age, his mental capacity, yada yada yada, Jonathan V. Last otherwise known as JVL, editor of The Bulwark, tackles each, starting by reminding that all presidents who choose to run for reelection have headwinds. He writes that it usually begins with headlines declaring they are not popular and cannot win:

Democrats weren’t willing to take my advice and add Ukraine aid to government funding bills. However, I missed something when I gave that advice: the desperation of radical House members to feel relevant. This has opened a backdoor for aid to Ukraine, for which we have Marjorie Taylor Greene – of all people – to thank.
Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) has filed a motion to oust Speaker Mike Johnson, setting up a high-stakes vote of confidence in his leadership as conservatives lament the Louisiana Republican’s passage of a $1.2 trillion government funding deal with mostly De ..read more
