Love chai? You’d love the T2 chai wallah class!

Last Friday I attended my second class with T2 in Oxford and, like the ice tea session before it, the chai class didn’t disappoint! We were greeted by a lively chap called Conor who first explained where chai comes from and what a chai wallah is. In a nutshell, it’s the person who makes the chai (which means “tea” so whenever someone says chai tea, it’s essentially tea tea ). What teas did we make? By “we”, I mean the members of the audience helped with 4-5 tasks and Conor did the rest as hot water is a health & safety hazard so you’re limited in what you can participate in (what has the ..read more

Autumn is a bit like a cup of tea
White, No Sugar

As I’m staring out the train window, I think that autumn is not all that bad. Summer is definitely my favourite season with its walks, bike rides, picnics, long days and ice-cold drinks. But it’s over yet again and as the leaves of the trees turn a rusty brown, I can’t help but think they look a bit like the coppery leaves of a light black tea. Like a Ceylon. The morning mist is just starting to lift and it’s like the warm comfort of steam from a hot tea on a chilly morning. It seems that taking the time to look at the world around brings out the writer in me, haha! Seriously though, I’ve love ..read more

Tea review: Jeeves and Jericho’s Apricot & Ginseng
White, No Sugar

I don’t know about you but I’m not ready to let go of summer yet. Yes, the 19 degrees currently predicted might not feel like the 19 degrees I was relishing in at the beginning of summer, but after a long day at work and the sunny commute back home, an ice tea is still my drink of choice. And there’s one in particular I’ve been in love with for the past 6 weeks or so: Jeeves and Jericho’s Apricot & Ginseng blend. You may recall from an earlier post how I was surprised on a sunny Saturday morning with some great teas…this was one of them. About this tea Dry leaves: If meditation gurus ..read more

Happy Afternoon Tea Week! This last year has flown by, I can’t believe we’re here again. Anyone who knows me knows how much I love a good afternoon tea: the china, the ceremony, the food, the tea and simply taking time to enjoy your company and surroundings. So what better way to celebrate our wedding anniversary? I’d been gifted Champagne afternoon tea for my birthday at the Covent Garden Hotel in London and little did I know I was about to come across the best scones EVER! A great crust and colour on the outside with the softest, puffiest crumb inside. If anyone has the recipe, please send i ..read more

Tea review: Jeeves and Jericho’s Passionfruit Ceylon
White, No Sugar
by whitenosugarblog
1y ago
It was a warm summer Saturday morning and I was up early preparing some lemon curd butterfly cakes for hosting my first ever afternoon tea (more on that in another post!). All of a sudden, the postman rang the doorbell and I was beyond excited to see that he had a parcel from Jeeves and Jericho for me. You see, after my review of Big Red Robe, they got in touch to see whether I would want to try their ice tea range. As I’m already a fan of their teas, there was no way I was going to say no. I will review all four teas, but as soon as I had my first sip of the Passionfruit Ceylon, I just HAD to ..read more

One of nature’s best kept secrets: linden tea
White, No Sugar

You know how your mind sometimes keeps memories in scents rather than pictures? I’m talking about that moment when you smell something and it will instantly remind you of a childhood moment or a favourite time on holiday. For a few years now, I’ve smelled this sweet scent in the air in the summer, more like a dessert than a flower although I could recognise it was coming from a plant nearby. I’ve wondered and wondered which one it was and why it was so enthralling and so comforting. I’ve finally realised: I was smelling the flowers of a linden tree or as it’s called in Romania: tei. I mention ..read more

Ice tea review: strawberry milkshake from BRUU
White, No Sugar

As you can tell from the title, this is not your usual tea review. It’s a special summer edition for those of you who want a refreshing, cold drink with lots of flavour but without lots of sugar! (or in this case, none at all) Having recently started a gut makeover plan to improve my health, I had to give up sugar for a month. I know, the thought of it seems impossible. It even seemed impossible to me and I would usually only have treats with sugar at the weekend. and maybe on a Friday evening. But actually, the first week of giving up sugar is the worst and then your body miraculously doesn’t ..read more

It’s been 5 days since our ice tea masterclass with T2 in Oxford but I’m still buzzing with excitement and I want to share what I learnt with you! So, if you find yourself feeling a bit hot this summer and you want a drink that is not full of nasties, yet delicious and refreshing, read on. In all honesty, it was not my first time making ice tea so I had some understanding of the basics but I enjoyed the class and got some new tips along the way. What you need to make ice tea You don’t really need much equipment other than what you already have. A teapot to make the tea A lot of ice which you ..read more

Tea review: BRUU’s Coconut Green tea blend
White, No Sugar
by whitenosugarblog

I was very fortunate to get a three month subscription to BRUU’s tea delivery service for my birthday from my work colleagues. It’s a bit like Graze, but for tea. Every month you get a box in the post which contains 3 teas to try and then you get to rate them. And if you don’t like one, at least you’re not left with a whole tin of it! I was super excited to receive my first box and try something new. Not that my cupboard isn’t bursting with tins and blends but you know, you can never have too much tea! It’s a bit like wine, one for every occasion: daily morning brew, afternoon brew, weekend br ..read more

Where is the British tea community hiding?
White, No Sugar

Things have been incredibly busy recently and I must confess that sometimes I feel overwhelmed by social media and online news. So I picked up some magazines and raided my books-to-read pile and drank endless cups of soothing, flavoursome tea without really documenting any of that. Sometimes we all need a break, but I think the current generations struggle a bit with taking one. Anyway, I’ve noticed something since I started this blog. There are a lot of people VERY passionate about tea worldwide, but I didn’t expect to find this many people and brands. Australians are bringing down borders wi ..read more
