Our First Experience Housesitting
A Little Step Further
by Louise Allonby

We are currently housesitting in the South of Spain. It’s our first experience of it but something that I have always wanted to do. I wanted to share what house sitting was and how you could get involved. We decided to try and get a housesit this summer because of Covid. Our initial summer plans had gone out of the window and we started worrying about money as we wouldn’t have a job in the summer, and would need money for living in September once we start working again. The idea came to try and do some house-sitting, as we had accepted it was probably more responsible for us to stay in Spain t ..read more

A Little Step Further
by Louise Allonby

Summer 2020 is the summer for reading. This has to be the first summer in about 5 years when I’m actually not working. Usually this time every year, I would be working at a Summer School in Oxford for 6 weeks. But of course, due to the current situation, it didn’t go ahead this year. We have decided to stay in Spain for the summer. So we’ve been relaxing and slowly travelling about, which has been very well-deserved. Since finishing work, I’ve barely been on my laptop and instead I have buried my head in a few books, which I decided to share with you: And the Mountains Echoed by Khaled Hossein ..read more

A Little Step Further
by Louise Allonby

A personal account of the Coronavirus lockdown in Spain. I’m writing this, feeling like I have a lot to say. There is a lot going on in the world right now, we are all going through different things and experiencing different situations but yet we are all in this together. Before the lockdown. As you probably know, I live in Spain, recently moved to Seville. A city in which I fell in love with about a year ago when I came here to do my CELTA qualification for teaching English. I moved to the city last September with dreams of tapas and wine in sunny squares with great friends, enjoying the lai ..read more

A Little Step Further
by Louise Allonby

There’s so many things to do in Cambodia. It’s a popular hotspot on most South East Asia travel itineraries and rightly so. I always talk very fondly of Cambodia, it was the first country I travelled to solo and a place that has left marks in my heart. The people, the culture, and history pulls you in and makes you realise just how small you are in this world. I am dying to go back to Cambodia and explore it all again. I have put together a list of thing you should not miss on any trip to Cambodia 1. Angkor Wat Angkor Wat Temples are probably the most popular temples in the world. And within g ..read more

Exploring Seville’s coolest neighbourhood Feria.
A Little Step Further
by Louise Allonby

Feria is without a doubt one of the coolest neighbourhoods in Seville. But first I need to explain how I ended up living in Seville. I never did a big post about it but I moved to Seville. It’s been something that was kind of an idea/plan for about 18 months. I wasn’t sure about the idea at first, I was kind of done with Spain. But as my short stint of 9 months back in the UK didn’t go exactly how I imagined it would, I decided to get away again. So I spent 2 months here in Seville, back in April and May last year and I studied for my CELTA, which is the Cambridge Certificate in English La ..read more

A Little Step Further

The Amalfi Coast seems to be as ever popular now more than ever. A beautiful stretch of coastline along the edge of Southern Italy.  Beautiful, colourful towns built up the side of the mountains, deep blue sea, delicious seafood pasta, lemon groves and terraced vineyards. The Amalfi Cons is aesthetically pleasing to any traveller, and a must see despite the every growing tourism and the expensive price tag it has.  The thing with the Amalfi Coast is that it is super easy to travel around whilst staying in one place. I personally stayed in Positano in a cute Air BnB at the very top of the ..read more
