The path to Cup glory has been decided in Canberra with the draws for the Australia Cup Qualifying Round 5 and 6 and the Women’s Federation Cup Semi-Finals having taken place at Football House in Deakin. Community League 1 Majura FC will continue to spotlight the Magic of the Cup as they play host to high-flying Gungahlin United in the fourth Quarter Final fixture, the lowest ranked team left in the competition paired with the National Premier League outfit in a traditional David versus Goliath contest. The winner of that fixture will have, as the reward, a Semi-Final match-up against the suc ..read more

Canberra Olympic enter the 2024 season with a target on their back, following their swoop of last season’s league title, Grand Final, and more recently, the Charity Shield. After three years of incredible service at the helm, Nicole Begg has departed the NPLW outfit, and has been replaced by former Olympic men’s coach, Frank Cachia. Having lost the figurehead for their recent success, a coaching heavyweight was the minimum requirement for filling the void left by Begg at the club, and Cachia is just the man for the job, embodying one of the most successful coaches in the capital within recent ..read more

A last-gasp winner from central defender Samuel Raciti ensured Yoogali SC progressed into the Quarter Finals of the Capital Football Federation Cup, Australia Cup Round 5, with a 2-1 success over rivals Wagga City Wanderers in the Riverina Derby at Rawlings Park. Raciti broke Wagga City hearts on a night of cup drama in the Riverina as Yoogali put aside their National Premier League woes to see off the home team and book a place amongst the last eight, one step away from their best ever cup performance, the semi-finals in 2021. The Bellingham Cup 24 has been run and won and was a great success with Mother Nature giving us an amazing day. With monies still coming in, it appears we will raise close to $10,500 this year which will be donated directly to the Agnes Ginges Centre for Molecular Cardiology at the Centenary Institute, and particularly in the area of sudden cardiac death in the young. Capital Football has again played a big part in that success. Please find attached a couple of photos of the day and we hope you will join us again for the Bellingham Cup 2025. If time permits, please have a look at the Bellingh ..read more

West Canberra Wanderers earned a first point of the season in an entertaining 1-1 draw with ANU WFC as the visitors began their Women’s National Premier League season after receiving the bye in Round 1. In quite the open game, where both teams had chances but lacked in the end product, the visiting team struck first, halfway through the first half. A superb effort from the edge of the box saw Sheridan McElligott hit the crossbar, Sofia Chaverra was the fastest at the rebound though and, after a couple of attempts, ended up volleying the ball from point blank range between Amy Wiggan and her n ..read more

REVIEW: NPL MEN – GOALS GALORE IN SENSATIONAL SECOND ROUND
Capital Football

A brace from Lukman Ahmed-Shaibu and a superb solo goal from new signing Daniel Olaoye helped Gungahlin United to a statement victory in National Premier League Round 2, as the Gunners swept past Canberra Croatia in an absorbing match at Deakin Stadium. Fixtures between these two giants rarely disappoint, and this was no exception from the moment that Daniel Sparrow was forced to head past his own goalkeeper to give Gungahlin the lead after 27 minutes, following exceptional approach work from winger Augustine Bangura. That was just the prelude for the sensational second on debut from Olaoye ..read more

ANU FC roared to the top of the early Capital Premier League table with a stunning 5-1 away win over Brindabella Blues, goal difference being the differential that separates five teams that all have recorded at least one win after the second Round of the competition. The University side warmed up for their Australia Cup Qualifying test against National Premier League Tuggeranong United with a comprehensive display at Ipan Park in Calwell, a result that never seemed in doubt once Jacob Hart and Hassan Alnuwaysir had put them 2-0 up at the break. Jack Gibson added a double within nine minutes o ..read more
