Sunday inspiration: The path of descent at the Scorpio New Moon
Astrological Musings

Tomorrow’s Scorpio New Moon offers an opportunity to delve into a deeper state of being and learn what is true beyond the fluff of every day life. This is my path right now (here’s an update on my sabbatical if you missed it!) and I found this piece to be inspirational in keeping me on the path of awakening. ? A growing down so often necessitates a “sinking to the depths.” If we do not consciously choose the journey, the journey will choose us on its own. The soul, weary and neglected so often captures us in the only way it can — calling us into sickness or depression, perhaps some kind of a ..read more

art by Helga Joy In honor of the big transits that are happening in my own chart right now (details at the bottom of the post) and my own inner explorations, I offer this beautiful piece of inspiration to let go of blocks and anxieties that keep us locked in a prison of our own story and help us convert this prison into a prism of possibilities. ? Can you feel it? Life breaking through inside us like an undeniable rising tide of wild brilliance and truth.. Asking us to wake up and rediscover ourselves as the planetary beings and hearts that we are Inviting us to break through our ..read more

My writing sabbatical starts this week
Astrological Musings

Last year I had a very big birthday with a 7 in it, and ever since then I have been pondering my future. I had been wanting to update my VisionCrafting workbook for those of us in the third age of life, the time after the second Saturn return at around age 58 when we realize that time is passing quickly, and the more I worked on that update the more I realized that I myself need this work before I can pass anything along to others. I’ve been writing regularly about astrological topics since 1991 when I was asked to write a horoscope column for a new monthly spiritual magazine called Connexion ..read more

Planetary news this week: Virgo season, Pisces Full Moon, much more!

Astrological update for the week of August 21-18, 2023 There’s a lot to unpack this week! Grab a coffee or cup of tea and let’s get cracking. Sun enters Virgo August 23. The Sun’s entry into Virgo technically marks the beginning of Virgo season, but with Mercury and Mars already in Virgo the focus on order and the world of the mundane is already well underway. The shift from Leo to Virgo will help to soothe some of the fiery energies that have been flying around lately – the only planet left in fire will be Venus in Leo. Since Venus is retrograde, though, some of that fire will be muted as Ven ..read more

Sunday inspiration: Reach in the direction of your heart’s calling

artist unknown? Over the next few days Mars in Virgo opposes Neptune, the planet of transcendent creativity, imagination and the truth that stretches beyond that which is known. Mars in Virgo is more crafty; it seeks order and purpose, so this is a complicated planetary combination that asks us to reach outside of our comfort zone in order to find a structure within which magic can happen. I first found this as a little meme on Instagram, but the whole piece is quite beautiful and really speaks to this stretch of Neptunian inspiration we have right now. ? One day you will realize that true ..read more

Planetary news this week: The rise of Venus and the Leo New Moon

Astrological update for the week of August 14-21, 2023 art from Displate Venus as morning star. On the heels of Sunday’s conjunction of the Sun to Venus (called the “cazimi”), we begin to see Venus rising as the morning star as she passes the midpoint of the retrograde period. The symbolism 40-day cycle of Venus retrograde is pretty profound, as that 40-day cycle can be found frequently in religious texts. At the beginning of the retrograde cycle Venus is ahead of the Sun and rises near sundown, but after the Sun/Venus conjunction at the midpoint of the cycle Venus sneaks ahead of the sun an ..read more

Planetary news this week: Pluto square the nodes and the Eris connection.

Astrological update for the week of August 7-14, 2023 This week’s update will be short and sweet because I’m getting on a plane in a few minutes for a family emergency.  The biggest news this week is the continuing challenging square aspect between Pluto and the lunar nodes. This aspect began a couple of weeks ago and continues into this week. The lunar nodes represent the direction of fate from past to future, with the south node representing the past and the north node pointing towards our future direction. There are different ways to get to the future, and when Pluto, planet of transf ..read more

Sunday poetry: May your trails be winding and full of wonder

Over the next few days the North Node, the point which marks the gatepost to the future, will connect with the new planet Eris named for the Goddess of Discord. Eris and Pluto have been in a square aspect since January 2020 and I think we can all agree that the last three years have been fairly discordant.  In honor of the transformation that creative chaos can bring, I offer this poem. The predictable offers a sense of safety and security and the comfort of knowing what comes next, but the discordant aspects of life have the potential to open up consciousness-altering experiences which ..read more

Astrological update for the week of July 31 – August 7 Supermoons. If you’re subscribed to my Planetary Illuminations report you’ll read more about this tomorrow, but in August we are in SuperMoon season (™Richard Nolle). We have come to think of SuperMoons as being the giant white discs in the sky that occur at the Full Moon when the Moon is closest to Earth (perigee), but a New Moon can also be a SuperMoon. It’s the distance from the Moon to the Earth that creates the SuperMoon, whichever side of the Sun it happens to be on. Full SuperMoon in Aquarius August 1. In August we have two SuperMoo ..read more

Sunday inspiration for Mars & Mercury in Virgo: The perfect morning
Astrological Musings
by Lynn Hayes

I love learning about the morning routines of different people and over the last few years I’ve been reading and watching videos about different morning routines and trying some things on to see how they work for me. One thing I’ve learned is that although there is no such thing as a perfect morning, there are certain habits that do set me up for a great day and if I miss them I can really tell the difference. Mars has been in Virgo for a couple of weeks and was joined by Mercury yesterday so this seems like a great time to talk about routines, especially morning routines. Virgo is the sign t ..read more
