Moyra Janes Brasserie: Hearty Grub & the Best Hot Chocolates

This is a little local place that the kids absolutely love going to for lunch or a wee hot chocolate and cake. Moyra Janes is an adorable, welcoming wee haven tucked away in Pollokshields, serving up heartwarming lunches, also breakfasts and dinners, freshly made cakes and by my kids account, the best hot chocolates in Glasgow. It’s my kids’ favourite little treat spot, but it’s also a place you could take your gran and she would love it too. Moyra Janes menu has your scrambled eggs, full breakfast and some really good eggs benedict, plus they also open for evening meals as well, though we’ve ..read more

Cosmo World Buffet: Easy Family Dining

Sometimes, finding a place to eat with kids where the kids will choose something they will actually eat, and that us adults will also enjoy can be a bit of a challenge. We have been to a couple of different buffets, so thought it was time to give Cosmo World Buffet in Silverburn a try as we’ve only heard good things from friends who have been. We weren’t disappointed. Cosmo is located within Silverburn shopping centre, just out the back where the Cineworld cinema is located. When we arrived, we were shown to our seats and the kids were ready to fill their boots. There are a wide variety of op ..read more

Sunday Strolls: Glen Finglas Reservoir

The Glen Finglas reservoir spills over the dam into a stunning cascading waterfall. It isn’t a long walk, so don’t go expecting to be here all day, but there is loads to do in this area, and even within Glen Finglas itself. Plan a few stops and turn it into a lovely wee daytrip! Glen Finglas is about 20 minutes north of Aberfoyle over the Duke’s Pass. Park in the car park for the dam and it’s only maybe a 10 minute walk through the gate on the left to get to the dam itself. You can stand right next to it on the viewing platforms at the bottom. I could’ve watched that water cascading down the ..read more

Smart Gym CIC: The family and budget friendly gym

There are loads of exercise classes aimed at new mums and babies in and around Glasgow. You’ve got buggy fit, pre- and post-natal yoga classes, post-natal circuits and postnatal spin classes in several Glasgow Life venues. These are all great, and can be incredibly beneficial. But they are all aimed at people with babies; toddlers at most. There comes a point when it’s not quite as easy to take you walking, talking tiny humans along to these classes anymore. Most gyms don’t allow kids in younger than age 14. There are a few places who do though, or at least who have creche facilities for young ..read more

Glasgow’s Best Low Cost Family Activities: The Indoor Edit
Glasgow With Kids | Glasgow Baby Blog

I’m always up for wrapping up in our waterproofs and going for a walk or to the park in the rain. But some months Glasgow just has far too many rainy days to force my kids out in the cold again. Thankfully, you don’t need to spend a lot of money to have some great days out. Glasgow has a ton of indoor places and activities that are either free or cheap. This list is a compilation of places that we’ve visited and enjoyed at one point or another over the past 5 years. I’ve added the museums that we’ve found to be most kid friendly, or that the kids have found most interesting, but almost all of ..read more

Christmas at M&D’s

This is a Christmas event we’ve been along to for the past few years and the kids absolutely LOVE it. At this time of year M&D’s in Strathclyde Park has a Christmas circus, ice skating and real reindeer. There are storytelling sessions and you can visit Santa. And there are of course all the rides too. We visited for their press event at the beginning of December on an evening when it was -3ºC outside and let me tell you, it was freezing. But we wrapped up as warm as possible and did not let the cold spoil our fun! First we went ice skating with some push along bananas, push along polar b ..read more

Alternative Gifting: Annual Passes and Days Out
Glasgow With Kids | Glasgow Baby Blog

One of the best things we started doing a few years ago was asking family to get the kids vouchers for days out or annual passes instead of toys. (They still get plenty of toys, but this helps to limit the amount of stuff coming into the house at this time of year. As we all know, there’s a lot of it!) Obviously a family membership for something is only worthwhile if you’re actually going to use it. But one thing I will say is that you are far more likely to go to a place, even for just a few hours, if you have a pass for it. So just bear that in mind if you’re considering getting one. (Or ask ..read more

Taste Perthshire

On the way up to Pitlochry for our evening at The Enchanted Forest this year, we stopped at Taste Perthshire for some dinner. Taste Perthshire is a wee stop off on the A9 about 20 minutes south of Pitlochry. It’s like a lovely garden centre; with a shop, a restaurant, a little play frame for the kids to have a play on and some highland cows to see, or even to feed. The restaurant was our main reason for stopping by and we were very pleasantly surprised. The food was great – we had steak pie, fish & chips, and the kids had their mac & cheese. Your proper home cooked fayre. It was al ..read more

The Enchanted Forest, Pitlochry

We were asked along to the preview night of The Enchanted Forest in Pitlochry a few nights ago and we had the best time. The event is a fully immersive sound and light show through Faskally Wood and around the little loch there. The forest is lit up with spectacular visuals and you are surrounded by light and music as you wander through the autumn forest. The theme this year is ‘From The Deep’. The storyline follows Solas, the ancient Gaelic guardian of the deep, and as you walk round the forest you will go with him on an adventure to find his purpose. We walked through an erupting volcano, a ..read more

Robertson Park, Renfrew

Robertson Park in Renfrew is one of the kids favourite places to head if we’re looking for a nice easy couple of hours outside. It is right in the middle of Renfrew, 5 minutes from Xsite. If we’ve been out for lunch or dinner at Xsite we sometimes head here afterwards to burn off all the pent up ice cream energy. The park isn’t really that big but it is super flat and hence great for practising on the skates or scooters and of course for buggies. There’s not a huge amount of walking in it unless you do laps, but the pond is pretty and there are some swans, ducks and moorhens in it if your kids ..read more
