RIALS: The Incorporation of St. George – Establishing A Pacesetter City
The Hayride

“A city is not gauged by its length and width, but by the broadness of its vision and the height of its dreams.” ~ Herb Caen On April 26th, 2024 the Louisiana Supreme Court (LASC) confirmed by a 4-3 vote that St. George will be the fifth largest city in Louisiana with 86,000 residents. This rare opportunity to create a pacesetter 21st century city is invigorating, since the new governance model will be decoupled from antiquated policies, practices, and politics. Of the 64 Louisiana parishes, only EBR, Orleans, and Lafayette Parishes have an elected Mayor-President. All surrounding parishes hav ..read more

Want To Read King Of The Jungle? I’ll Make You A Deal!

As I am in book-hawking mode once again, which is the fate of any author wishing to put food on the table, I’ll just pass along a few reactions to King of the Jungle that have turned up on Amazon… Scott McKay does a masterful job of having the reader experience an all too possible scenario, based on current events populated with “fictional” characters whose actual identities are well-known. As with his “Tales of Ardenia” series, principled, honorable people triumph over the corrupt and unscrupulous; all seen through the eyes of a main character whom the reader easily identifies ..read more

LADY LIBERTY: Leftist Agenda Sneaks In Through Local Bill Loophole
The Hayride

Democrats in the Louisiana Legislature have found a way to pass legislation that creates tax havens for large corporations at the expense of small businesses and citizens. And the worst part is a majority of Republicans are voting in favor of it. House Bill 307 is a prime example. At a glance, the organization says its aim is to facilitate bioscience and health projects. But a few scratches to the surface reveal much deeper intentions. This will create a special ‘healthcare district’ encompassing both residential and commercial areas within the City of Shreveport, without notifying locals abou ..read more

(By Steve Wilson/The Center Square) – Greater compensation for many property owners whose land is taken through eminent domain for carbon capture and sequestration projects is in a proposal at the Louisiana House of Representatives. House Bill 783 would require landowners be compensated per acre to “no less than the maximum amount paid to any other landowner in that project.” The bill is applicable for carbon sequestration projects where the gas is put into pores underground, which is the empty space between grains in a sand layer. Rep. Danny McCormick, R-Oil City, sponsor of the leg ..read more

The title here corresponds to actor Tyrese Gibson’s warning below in the comment section of the first X post. I have also included a clip from the Oprah Winfrey Show in 1989. Both posts were comments under the Ryan Garcia testimony, which I do not necessarily promote as I am still doing research and playing the waiting game on him specifically. That said, as I have contended extensively in my work this past week, it wouldn’t take much for me to believe his experience 100 percent because I know of others who have suffered this abuse. Garcia says, with a mocking tone of those who would make ligh ..read more

SADOW: Louisiana Schools Best Heed Brumley’s Advice on New Rules
The Hayride
by Jeff Sadow

Louisiana’s local education agencies should heed State Superintendent of Education Cade Brumley’s advice to disregard new and radical rulemaking from the federal Department of Education that likely is unconstitutional that conflicts with present and likely Louisiana law. Last week, the Democrat Pres. Joe Biden Administration released its recodification of Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972, which lays down rules to which state-regulated (because the U.S. Constitution grants states the power to regulate education provision) education provision must adhere in order to receive federal g ..read more

Abbott Endorses Border-Area Incumbent For Key Texas Congressional Seat
The Hayride
by Andy Hogue

An expected runoff win for a border-area GOP congressional incumbent became almost certain after an endorsement by Gov. Greg Abbott on Wednesday. Abbott endorsed U.S. Rep. Tony Gonzales in the Republican primary runoff — much-needed ammo for the incumbent against those who have charged he is insufficiently conservative and those who are behind Second Amendment proponent Brandon Herrera, “the AK Guy” on social media and streaming video. In a media statement, Abbott had much praise for Iraq War Navy veteran Gonzales, who is seeking a third term after succeeding Republican Will Hurd. “Tony G ..read more

Criminal charges proposed for undocumented immigrants entering Louisiana
The Hayride

(By Steve Wilson/The Center Square) – Legislation proposing criminal charges for undocumented immigrants entering Louisiana has passed a committee in the House of Representatives. The bill moving forward Wednesday from the Committee on Administration of Criminal Justice is similar to legislation in neighboring Texas. It passed the panel 7-4 and was opposed by the Southern Poverty Law Center and migrant groups. Next would be a House floor vote. The Senate, by 28-11 on April 9, has already passed Senate Bill 388 sponsored by Sen. Valarie Hodges, R-Denham Springs. If it becomes la ..read more
