so hi everyone! I have just under 10 days left in this country and i can’t believe how fast the time has gone. It is crazy! I will be creating a post in a few weeks with a massive debrief about everything I have learnt this year and all the highlights but I thought for now I would just share my rotary presentation that I did a few days ago. Everyone told me it was wonderful and that I should be proud so I was very happy. But my presentation is in german so I will copy the text into google translator so that aussie people can read it. This isn’t all of it as I thought I would cut it down a bit ..read more

Dancing on a Mountain In early June, my host dad and 3 of our family friends went on a 5 hour hike up a mountain in Switzerland. But it wasn’t just any ordinary hike. One of the friends is a student at a university in Zurich who is studying to become a dancer. She is almost finished her degree and in order to complete it must complete a 30 minute video about dancing in nature. So we climbed up this mountain one Friday afternoon carrying heavy backpacks filled with clothes, food and supplies. The dancing that we actually participated in is probably not the kind that you would expect. We weren’t ..read more

Hallo! So as you have probably read in my past posts I am on school holidays which means lots of time to explore this beautiful country. Last week I spent 2 really fun days in 2 different cities which both start with the letter L and I kept on getting mixed up. The weather is so nice and sunny now that it made the trips extra fun! On Wednesday, I traveled with my friend Chloe to Lugano which is a small city in the Italian speaking part of Switzerland which I hadn’t been to yet. It was so beautiful as it lay right on a lake. Unfortunately the train station lay a bus ride from the water and sinc ..read more

Have you ever been in 3 countries at the same time?

Have you ever been in 3 countries at the same time? I have. A few days ago, me, Alex and Chloe went to Basel for the day. We visited a sculpture called Dreilaendereck which means three countrys something (I don’t know the last bit) and it is located right on the point where Germany, France and Switzerland intersect. Ok so I wasn’t actually in 3 countries at the same time but I went to all 3 countries in a matter of 2 seconds. Right in front of the sculpture is something called ‘A Grand Tour Sign’ which are these red signs that are located in various spots around Switzerland. There are 30 ..read more

Hoi everyone! (and just in case you think I can;t spell ‘hi’; ‘hoi’ is a swiss german greeting) So I am now on school holidays which makes me extremely happy as I am absolutely exhausted! It is also spring and I have so many places I want to visit now that the weather is warmer and sunnier. To conclude the ‘term’, I participated in a special week at school where each student from my grade chose a group (e.g photography, sport). I chose the theatre group along with Chloe (the other exchange student at my school). During the week we made and performed little skits in small groups and at night we ..read more

Being an exchange student means that you start of the year having mostly just exchange friends which unfortunately are spread all across the country meaning it would take me hours to visit them. So on those couple of days during the holidays where I was a bit bored (and a little lonely) I decided to take some day trips by myself to visit places that really interested me. I hope you enjoy reading about my solo experiences! Basel I had heard that Basel had an architecture museum and had been wanting to go for awhile so I thought that Friday was the day! I climbed on a train and rode an hour and ..read more

A little trip to Chamonix

2 or 3 weeks ago Ella, Nadja and I woke up super early  to go on a day trip to Chamonix in France. It took about 3 hours on the train with a lot of different transfers but after we disembarked from the final tiny train we were met with a spectacular view. Chamonix is a small town in the east of France that lies on the junction between Italy, France and Switzerland. The town is well known because it sits at the base of the largest mountain in the alps: Mont Blanc. I got altitude sickness for the first time. What an experience! We boarded a carriage that took us up the mountain of &nbs ..read more

Hello everyone! So I haven’t posted in a long, long time but I am about to spam you all with post after post after post. So sit down and enjoy because you are going to be reading for awhile! A few weeks ago, one of my best friends, Chloe (who is also an exchange student from Australia) had her 17th birthday. To celebrate she organised a weekend of fun for a couple of exchange friends. On Saturday we met at Biel station and caught a train to Bern where we spent the afternoon exploring the awesome city. First we bought some lunch and had a picnic in the Rosen Garten (rose garden) which had a spe ..read more
