Small Town Stars – Ciarán ‘Yohan’ Brennan

I’ve always had a keen interest in visual art from a young age. Anything weird or wonderful to the eye stops me in my tracks but it was actually secondary school that opened up my mind to a whole new world of art. Unfortunately my painting skills were somewhat questionable, however my appreciation for art history and admiration for what artists create still fascinates me to this day.    Trust me, I’m no art expert but I do love a variety of styles, artists and eras, from Renaissance to Surrealism, Banksy to Frida Kahlo, Sculpture to Painting. I enjoy a gander in an art gallery but I just don’t ..read more

Small Town Stars – Wallflower.

Holland is famous for many things but two of those are – it’s beautiful flower fields that grace it’s landscape and the fact they are the largest flower exporters in the world. So it may come as no surprise to you that I’m interviewing a Dutch woman who just so happens to be a florist, (living in Co. Wexford) but actually what’s more of a surprise is that she was once a Paediatric nurse for years before giving it all up to pursue her dreams with her supportive husband by her side. Who might I add, has just a big of a role behind the scenes in making Wallflower what it is today. That’s what rel ..read more

Hey everyone, I’m chuffed that my first interview of Small Town Stars got such a positive reaction. I really appreciate the feedback from you all. This weeks post is for all you fashion lovers out there. Remember the name Aisling Kielthy. I reckon we’ll be hearing a lot more of her in the future. I came across Aisling on Instagram (surprise surprise) well over a year ago and at the time I didn’t know who she was or where she was from but when I saw her, the song by RnB star Eve came to mind, ‘Who’s that girl? la la la la la la la… I could see that some of my friends followed her already and I ..read more

February is Children’s Oral Health Month
Olivia's Mother

Between the torturous months with Oscar teething and the pure excitement when Olivia’s teeth began to fall out, it’s seems teeth have been very much the focal point in our lives lately. Now more than ever I’ve been reminded that there’s much more to teeth than just cleaning them. Speaking of cleaning, did you know that February is Oral Health Month? Me neither. I came across oral health expert Eileen McGlinchey aka Smiley Eileey last year through social media. She stocks all sorts of teeth related products for children on her website and Eileen also provides fun, interactive and educational ..read more

Hello there, Happy New Year. Can you believe it’s 2019 already? 19 years since this millennium began. Crazy. Now I’m not trying to be a negative Nancy here but I can’t believe Christmas is actually over already. It seems the older I get, the quicker the Christmas season goes by. I often heard people saying that over the years and now I’m of an age where I actually feel that way too. Boo hoo. Don’t get me wrong I had a lovely time and the build up was great. I’m not one to get excited too early and I find that’s very important. You won’t see decorations up in my house until after the 8th of Dec ..read more

Hello there, It’s been a while, I know. Life is very busy and I’m finding my hobbies are being put on the sideline and up until now I haven’t made my blogging a priority which I feel sad about, but I’m not giving up just yet, I still have things I want to share with you so I hope you continue to read. In August we decided to book a couple of nights away before Olivia started back at school. As I browsed through airbnb for the first time, searching your typical accommodation choices, I remembered reading about a beautiful Alpaca Farm in Co. Laois. The owner Liz is a fellow blogger and she share ..read more

Discover The Courage In You – My Book Heroes Review

When the team from My Book Heroes got in touch and asked us to review one of their personalized books I was very eager to look them up and see what they were all about as I had never heard of them before. But once I did, I jumped at the chance. Their mission statement is -“Empowering children as early as possible to be the best version of themselves”. As a child I could’ve done with reading a book or two like this, so I’m all about introducing Olivia to reading material that helps her to realize her full potential. Olivia is like most children when it comes to bedtime, she loves a story being ..read more

Wexford’s Passport to Fun – Kilmokea Manor House and Gardens
Olivia's Mother

Gosh this is so much fun ticking off the list in our little passport to fun. Kilmokea Gardens (as it’s known around here) is only a fifteen minute drive from our house, yet I had no desire to go there as I had no idea they had so much for children to enjoy. Olivia admires flowers and butterflies but she would be bored very easily if that was all Kilmokea Gardens had to offer children. But it isn’t. They have a lot to keep the kids entertained whilst being surrounded by nature. Kilmokea is a beautiful Georgian guest house with 7 acres of the most stunning gardens off the beaten track. It is mos ..read more
