Hey everyone! So I've been investing for about 6 months now, and I've gotten some pretty good returns. But the amount of effort I'm putting in to realizing those gains. Is not only time consuming, but also I become. Let's just say, a little obsessive. I'd like to get back some of my time in exchange for probably not getting as good as a return as if I did it myself. So I'm looking for options such as managed accounts, brokerage firms, and even looking at robo investors. Any tips? How any of it works? Fees to look out for? I'm maxing out my IRA and 401k. So I feel like I'm doing all I can do ..read more

Help with ideas for a money management talk

I volunteer teach a money management class a couple times a year at a barber shop school. Usually we go over creating a budget, setting goals, emergency fund, paying down debt, saving for retirement, spending less than you earn and lifestyle creep. I'm looking for suggestions on some other things that might be helpful. These are men and women who are mostly from lower income families. submitted by /u/jeb7516 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Where to open a SIMPLE IRA?

Need to open a SIMPLE IRA before tax deadline in October. All of our accounts are at Interactive Brokers and Vanguard - Interactive Brokers won't let you open a SIMPLE IRA without it being managed, and Vanguard just sold their entire retirement plan business off to Ascensus. Anyone have a recommendation for a custodian? Schwab or Fidelity, or follow Vanguard to Ascensus? submitted by /u/skisocalbackcountry [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Hi All, I am wondering if anyone is able to help identify the following fund in this image - (https://ibb.co/sF95pqC) as well as confirming what database/website listed this info. I am hoping by the way the data has been presented in the blue text, someone should be able to recongise where it is listed. Interested to see if anyone can actually work out which managed fund this is with the info supplied (domiciled country and inception date are probably key points) being Cayman and June-2015. Thanks for your help :) ! submitted by /u/Lvl99woodcuttingg [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Do I have to write off my mortgage interest?

I own a small business, and have taken some serious loses this year. Basically we had a thief that was stealing all the profit for the whole year. I haven’t really been able to take much profit out of the store, and I’m thinking the rest of the year will be playing catch up. I’ll survive, live and learn etc. This is the rub: I’m buying a house. I had to borrow 30k from my business partner to purchase said house, so any profits I DO take are going directly to him via a draw. The money I will take this year won’t even cover the monthly mortgage payments, but I have some cash I’ve saved up over ..read more

New job, 401k wording is weird, help

I am starting a new job soon and employees are automatically enrolled in a 3% 401k contribution. Ok, great. I know the basics, but the policy adds "we match 50% of your first 5% of contribution after 1 year of service" and I have been trying to decode what that means. Do I have to contribute 5% to get any match at all? submitted by /u/FakeMoonLanding1969 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

About to come into a chunk of money…what is my best route to purchase a home? Hello, all. I just got divorced from my husband. The home that we own together is paid off and will hit the market at the end of May. I’m hoping to get $250,000 from the sale and we will need to split that profit, so…$125,000 each. Aside from the taxes I will need to pay, I’m not sure what the best route I should take to use the left over money towards a new home. I will be going to live with my mother until I get on my feet. She is not going to charge me rent (my mother is a saint and the best person in the world ..read more

Hey! I am hoping someone can look over my strategy for buying my first house in 2 years. Basic information: - 27 year old in a high cost of living area. I am currently able to fully fund my Roth IRA, 401K, and HSA. I have a brokerage account that I had been contributing to through working in high school and college. I contributed to it for a year or two out of college but not much. My plan for the down payment is to get half of the money from saving into a high yield savings account. The other half will come from me selling out of my normal brokerage account. My current plan is to do an aggre ..read more

Are there simple, non-retirement, non-managed annuities?
Personal Finance Blog Reddit

I'm probably kicking the bucket soon. My wife and I decided that it would be better for her if she got the life insurance money in monthly installments instead of one big lump sum. The problem is that annuities seems to be either expensive, managed investments or retirement vehicles. All I want is to have it invested in some index funds and have 1% automatically withdrawn every month. It seems dead simple, but I can't find anyone that offers it. submitted by /u/delbin [visit reddit] [comments ..read more
