Mental Illness isn’t as taboo to talk about since the pandemic started and that’s definitely a step forward in the right direction. However, mental illness is still a huge part of peoples life and it’s a very hard journey to navigate– especially when the topic is still something many people don’t understand. I have been living with my specific mental illnesses for several years now and they have been filled with neverending learning lessons along with some good and very bad times. Like all things in life, the experience of living with mental illness in an already crazy world has allowed me to ..read more

Can I be honest? Sometimes I get too tired for hope. Some days I don’t think I have any authority to tell you things will get better because I so badly need someone to tell me that too. Sometimes I’m at a standstill wondering who or what will help me get through the day. Sometimes I’m so anxious I won’t get on my phone to make those phone calls I needed to make or text my friends back from last week. And some days I’m so deprived of happiness I don’t use any of the tools I know could help, but I just sit still- feeling paralyzed by my own thoughts and feelings. The truth is I struggle, a lot ..read more

How good are you at being alone? Are you the type of person who starts feeling lonely when you’re alone? I have realized there is a very real difference between aloneness and lonelines. Alone ti  Though I considered myself to be more of a introvert, meaning someone whose personality is gets drained in large crowds of people and recovers with some alone time— I haven’t ever felt the despair, the shame and the deep sadness that loneliness can bring. I think the reason that loneliness feels so awful the first time you’re confronted with it is because we live in a society that says, “‘okay, i ..read more

Some Insight:  Bipolar disorder is a confusing condition, especially for someone viewing it from the outside. And let’s be honest- it’s usually confusing even to those living with it. But even if you don’t have it or even know of someone who has it; by you simply understanding it better, you gain an ability to help someone who does have it in more ways than one.  Because Bipolar Disorder is often misunderstood (and not to mention, very stigmatized), It’s also misused often to describe the weather or the traffic or your irritable boss.  There are also many misconceptions about Mental Illness, e ..read more

Social Media is filled with influencers. Fitness, Self-Love, Motivational influencers that post all types of motivation for us throughout the day. I’ve signed up for several of these self-love challenges before and they definitely taught me a lot. But I’ve had a hard time finding people that can come together to talk about their Mental Health. So, I’ve decided to create a “Check-In With Your Heart” 7 Day Challenge. I wanted something intimate where people felt comfortable, supported and free to be themselves and talk about real life problems because that what Mental Illness is: a real-life pro ..read more

Only on social media can I create the illusion that these precious boys are such well-behaved Angels 100% of the time. These pictures capture the beauty of childhood.  The truth is that only filters or the right angle of a picture will cover up my messy sheet on the bed, the pile of laundry in the corner and some dishes in the sink or hide the fact I just dealt with an hour long meltdown with my 6-year-old right before we snapped this shot The truth is that motherhood is friggin hard; It’s not always smiling and snuggles & in those hard moments, I felt alone for a long time. I compared ..read more

Happy Spring Time! Gosh, how time flies. I don’t know how I’ve let months past by since I posted last (especially since I love writing and find it so therapeutic). But I guess that’s what a hard pregnancy and giving birth to this beautiful boy that’s pictured below will do. Meet Luke; who has been keeping me rather busy and has me wrapped around his little finger already. *heartthrob* I thought I’d post an update on what life has been like since I’ve stopped taking my Bipolar and Depression medications. Please know that I don’t ever want to preach that you should be doing the same thing as me ..read more
