The HeadMouse Nano by Origin Instruments is a hands-free mouse controlled by head movements, requiring no software installation. It offers easy, plug-and-play operation, but lacks a pause feature for video watching and can be overly sensitive. Despite its drawbacks, it provides independent computer access and is a viable hands-free mouse option. The post HeadMouse Nano Review first appeared on The Life Quadriplegic ..read more

I’ve been at Elm’s Farm for over 2 weeks and am getting used to it. Some things could be better, but we are trying to find the best way to do things. The day we arrived, a big gantry hoist was set up in my bedroom, which went over my bed. However, we soon discovered that it wasn’t working. My car is coming to the end of its life. I’ve had the same wheelchair accessible vehicle (WAV), a Mercedes Vito, for at least seven years, but now it’s time to get a new one. There have been numerous problems with it in recent weeks, which has meant it had to go into the garage to be fixed several times. So we are looking for a new vehicle, probably the same type, which will hopefully be more reliable. We bought the Vito from a company called Lewis Reed which is based in Manchester. They convert vehicles to make them wheelchair The post Review of the Mercedes Vito Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle ..read more

The inaccessible OCT machine strikes again
The Life Quadriplegic
by Alex Squire

Last week I went to see an ophthalmologist at the hospital because I think my cataracts are causing problems for my vision. Before I saw the doctor I was supposed to have an OCT scan which takes a 3D scan of the back of the eye. They gave me some eyedrops beforehand to dilate my pupils and make it look like I’m stoned. The OCT machine was on a table which could go up and down and move around on wheels. But the problem is I couldn’t get close enough to it. I needed to rest my chin on a The post The inaccessible OCT machine strikes again appeared first on The Life Quadriplegic ..read more
