There was a time in my life I realized that I would never be a professional athlete. As a result, I turned my interests towards other money endeavors, such as business. However, I am still holding onto that dream of being a reality television star. If any casting executives are New Jersey Devils’ fans, and are reading this article hit me up. I’ll have my people call your people. From the business side of things, I’ve always found the financials of the NHL and their teams interesting. That’s why I pay more than a passing glance at the Forbes NHL team evaluations. Here’s what that all means, an ..read more

Last week I shared my wish list for us New Jersey Devils’ fans this holiday season. Well you know what, us Devils’ fans have been really good this year, so maybe we deserve a few more presents. These are not as big as the last ones, so let’s call them our stocking stuffers. Same rules apply as the last list. They have to be things that are realistic and something under control by the team. As much as I’d love to have a black primary retro jersey in my stocking, unfortunately, that is not so realistic. Here are three things that can put us fans in the holiday spirit. The Financials of College Hockey There’s significant evidence that hockey is growing in the United States. But, in order to get national recognition from all fifty states, it will require a movement at the collegiate level.  Game number one, WIN NUMBER ONE! The calendar has turned to December which means it is the most wonderful time of the year. Unfortunately, this year the holiday season does not overlap with hockey season. That doesn’t mean hockey isn’t on our mind as we write our list to Santa Claus. Us New Jersey Devils’ fans have some Christmas wishes of our own. Quick disclaimer, these are all things that are realistic and a possibility for the team. Do not expect trading former Devils’ superstar Kevin Rooney’s old jock strap for Leon Draisatl to show up on this list. Here’s the New Jersey Devils fan wish list for 2020. Introduction If you’re a New York Mets fan, chances are the past few days have gotten you really excited. After years of suffering at the hands of the Wilpon family, the Mets were saved by a hero named Steve Cohen. After years of futility, there’s a glimmer of hope in Queens. From Larry Brown Sports Cohen definitely brings optimism to the Mets organization, but more importantly, he also brings his deep pockets. After years of discretionary spending, Cohen said he’s not afraid to open his check book. Cohen even said in his introductory press conference, he doesn’t care about making money, only ..read more

Stanley Cup Favorites: The Colorado Avalanche have had a terrific offseason. (Photo via Jason Franson, The Canadian Press via AP)1. Colorado Avalanche Somehow Joe Sakic and the Colorado Avalanche got better this offseason. They added a solid middle-six forward in Brandon Saad and a vastly underrated top-four defenseman in Devon Toews. 2. Tampa Bay Lightning The Lightning still have work to do to manage the team’s cap situation and remaining unrestricted free agents. However, the roster is still one of the most, if not, the most talented in the league. 3. Vegas Golden Knights Although the team ..read more

Mike “Doc” Emrick retired from announcing a little over a week ago. (Photo via USA Today”Introduction Growing up as a New Jersey Devils’ fan meant if I wasn’t in a seat at Continental Airlines Arena, I would be watching the action from home courtesy of Chico Resch and Mike “Doc” Emrick. Emrick would leave the Devils in 2011 to take on a national broadcasting job, but his ties to New Jersey were never forgotten. Especially because Emrick calmly called the crowning moment in Devils’ franchise history, the 1995 Stanley Cup championship. Years later, he would return to a broadcast booth in New Jer ..read more
