When will legislators learn? Grace is back after a very exciting week of Mets baseball. She discusses the many highs, and a significant low, of the past seven days of Mets games. She also gets into the latest updates regarding Shohei Ohtani and his interpreter Ippei Mizuhara’s gambling scandal. Then she gets into another case of draconian laws levied at queer people this, time from Kansas. The proposed bill would mandate ID for viewing content deemed “harmful to minors” online, and the definition of such content includes homosexuality. She breaks down the intentional vagueness of the language ..read more

Triple-A: Syracuse Mets (11-9) SYRACUSE 6, COLUMBUS 3 (BOX) Christian Scott continued his excellent start to the 2024 season, tossing six-innings of two-run ball. Both runs came in the first inning- first baseman Kyle Manzardo hit a two-run homer- but Syracuse came roaring back quickly, tying the game in the second with a Jose Iglecias two-run homer. Ji Man Choi hit a bomb of his own in the fourth to give the Mets the lead, and they never looked back. SS Luisangel Acuña ..read more

Giants 5, Mets: 1 — Logan Webb masterclass

Photo by Ezra Shaw/Getty Images Every Met not named Starling Marte had absolutely no answer for Logan Webb, as the Mets offense continued to keep cool since their Sunday loss to the Dodgers. The story of this game has little to do with the Mets, and everything to do with the starting pitcher for the San Francisco Giants. Logan Webb was simply outstanding on the day (or night, you get the point). Despite only registering four strikeouts, he was as dominant as a starter could possibly be, inducing ground ball after ground ball after ground ball — 15 ground ball outs, to be exact. He ended up goi ..read more

Sean Reid-Foley | Photo by David Berding/Getty Images The relief pitcher churn continues. As has often been the case this year, the Mets have made some roster moves in their bullpen, as the team has optioned Grant Hartwig to Triple-A Syracuse, designated Michael Tonkin for assignment, reinstated Sean Reid-Foley from the injured list, and called up Josh Walker from Syracuse. Reid-Foley had been in the mix for a spot on the Opening Day roster, but after suffering a minor injury in spring training, he opened the season on the injured list. He made three rehab appearances in the minors leading up ..read more

Photo by John McCoy/Getty Images A quick review of how the Mets’ pitchers fared over the past week. The Mets’ pitching staff fared well again this week as a unit with the obvious exception of yesterday’s game where Adrian Houser was shellacked by a potent Dodgers lineup. Otherwise, the pitching staff has kept the Mets in every game, even when they have dealt with traffic on the basepaths. If there is one issue to point out with the staff as a whole, it’s that they walk far too many batters. But the name of the game for them has been limiting the damage, which is why the Mets remain among the l ..read more
