The Yankees aren’t looking so hot at the moment. Which part of the team worries you the most right now?
Welcome to SB Nation Reacts, a survey of fans across Major League Baseball. Throughout the year we ask questions of the most plugged-in New York Yankees fans and fans across the country. Sign up here to participate in the weekly emailed surveys.
It finally happened. The Yankees have dropped five of their last eight games entering Tuesday’s action, and they’ve lost the top spot of the AL East division to the Baltimore Orioles. They haven’t been an outright dis ..read more

The Bronx Bombers look to get off the schneid and remember how to score again.
The Yankees’ bullpen has caused its share of teeth-gnashing of late, but as much as I’d like for the group to bring back whiff-happy memories of Andrew Miller and Dellin Betances, it doesn’t matter a lick if you don’t score. And the Yanks have been doing an awful job of doing that lately. It’s already been well-documented, but as a reminder, the offense has scored in just 3 of the 35 innings on this homestand.
That’s terrible. All we can from the outside is hope that the hitters ..read more

Checking in on the prospects the Yankees traded away to acquire two disappointing starters from Oakland
When JP Sears took the mound in the Bronx yesterday, he was more than the starting pitcher for the Oakland Athletics. He was a reminder of a trade the Yankees would prefer to forget — a 2022 trade deadline deal that brought them starter Frankie Montas and reliever Lou Trivino as stretch run reinforcements in exchange for Sears and three other prospects.
It was a trade that bore little fruit for the Yankees, as Montas posted a 6.15 ERA in nine appearanc ..read more

Following a two-game sweep at The Stadium against the Rangers, former Bomber David Wells came to town with the Blue Jays.
Following a two-game sweep at home against the Texas Rangers, with wins coming for Yankees pitchers David Cone and Roger Clemens in rather dominant fashion, the Yankees set their sight on an American League East opponent: the Toronto Blue Jays

The exciting Yankees shortstop has definitely hit the skids lately. Can he turn things around?
In the first couple of weeks of the 2024 season, Anthony Volpe was a beast. He overhauled his swing, he was hitting for average and power, he was stealing bases and he was flashing the leather. He was on top of the world.
MLB, however, has a way of humbling people that few other leagues have. Volpe’s OPS was over 1.000 as recently as April 15, but after Monday’s loss against the A’s, it’s at .766. Baseball, and numbers, can change in a hurry.
The numbers, and the vi ..read more

Welcome to the third edition of the 2024 weekly minor league roundup, where I review each Yankees affiliate from the week before and the prospects playing there. It wasn’t the greatest week on the farm, but there were still plenty of interesting performances. Let’s dig in!

Looking for a Tuesday rebound.
The vibes around the 2024 Yankees have largely been good, but yesterday brought one of the uglier losses of the year. It opened with a baffling ejection of Aaron Boone, and ended with the Yankees getting shut out, Juan Soto and Aaron Judge getting obliterated by Oakland closer Mason Miller in the ninth. The Yankees offense has largely been much this year than last, but the 2023 offense has certainly showed up a few more times than is comfortable.
After the odd afternoon start on Monday, we’re back to a standard 7 p.m. EST start ti ..read more

Umpire doubles down on baffling Boone ejection; Verdugo says the Yankees’ 2024 clubhouse is his favorite; Rodón guts out excellent performance using his entire arsenal
Sports Illustrated | Ryan Phillips: One of the worst umpiring fiascos we have seen in years occurred on Monday during the Yankees game against the Oakland Athletics. Umpire Hunter Wendelstedt threw out manager Aaron Boone from the game for something that a fan said.
Boone had some comments about a play during the first inning, but Wendelstedt gave him a warning and the Yanks’ skipper didn’t say a ..read more

The Yankees hit their first bump in the road, but bounced back. What’s in store next as we near the end of April?
The series streak is dead, long live the new series streak. The Yankees got their first punch in the mouth of the season as they narrowly lost their first series of the year to Toronto, but bounced back to take two of three against Tampa Bay. The offense has remained inconsistent at best, with Aaron Judge and Gleyber Torres among the members of the lineup struggling to find a consistent pace, and it was the largest culprit for the losses they took over the past week. On the bright ..read more

The Yankees dropped a truly terrible game to open this series, suffering their fourth shutout of 2024 already.
Y’know, when you think about the New York Yankees, it’s all about the stars. The history of the franchise is littered with outsized personalities and the most talented players to ever pull on spikes. The lineup today included two of the five or six most famous names in the sport, and of course one man would take that spotlight and shine it directly on himself.
And that man’s name is Hunter Wendelstedt — the star of the show. (We’ll get to the ugly, ugl ..read more
